Yeah, seriously. They have enough question marks on this team, so we're adding one more? They don't have near enough quality trade chips, and you're going to just throw one away? No, thanks.
Donskoi is not getting $6 million. Has he ever hit 15 goals? - Powerslave
I'd rather gamble on a question mark than role out a bunch of guys that I know suck

So instead of buying low on a guy who is coming off an injury who was finally able to showcase his talents, they're going to sign a guy with a career high of 37 points?
4 mins of ice time more a night in Vegas than in Minny
Got significant PP time
Even if his production dropped down to 40 points that's still 4th best among forwards on the Sabres
He can play LW and Center
The cost to get him was stupid low.
and if it doesn't work out at the end of the day all it costs is a C prospect and a 4th or 5th rounder and he is a UFA after this season so if they don't wanna keep him he gets moved at the deadline

Conditions on 5th RD pick in Haula trade: if he's on the Hurricanes roster past next season Vegas gets the pick (so if he signs); If the 'Canes trade Haula for either a player, or multiple picks, or a pick in rounds 1-5, Vegas also gets the 5th. If Haula walks next year, no pick

Or, because you know, it's JUNE 27TH, instead of making a dumb move, maybe we allow the gm to work, because maybe the guy has a plan.
It's downright hysterical that 90% of people on here think we should have traded for yet another 3rd liner who had ONE good year in his career because he "came cheap". Everyone wants change so much that you're willing to trade for trash because "it's new".
Ever think that Carolina didn't WANT CJ Smith, perhaps? This isn't (frank)ing Xbox. Let the man do his job.

So you're making an argument for signing Donskoi, then? 😉
Because he'll certainly get a bigger role here, ala Haula. And you're not giving anything up to acquire him.

14 twice. He made $1.9M last year playing 14 minutes a night and got 14 goals and 23 assists for his season. He's a good player and I'm glad were interested but I can't imagine his UFA offer won't be much more than 4, maybe 4.5. What might be attractive for him is he could slide into the top 6 here, unlike what he got in SJ. - mhp
I like these type players like Donskoi... i do have a friend who is a die hard Sharks fan and says that he's nothing special though. I'd support the signing but would be critical if it was for more than 4M.

Wasn't the Hunwick one that he had to be on our roster for last season and until the draft this year or we had to give them another pick? But now we could deal or cut him if he wanted for no additional pick?

On to the business: VAN will get hit with a cap recapture penalty of slightly more than $3M in each of the next three seasons. FLA cap recapture penalty will be slightly more than $1M in each of next three seasons.

The 4th became a 3rd if we traded Hunwick before the draft or if Sheary potted 20

This is why Murray was smart to buy out the Hoff - Slump Buster

Probably one of the few things he did correctly
He wasn't a bad player but that contract was BRUTAL

I hated the buyout at the time, thinking it was nothing more than a doomsday scenario, but it was definitely one of the smartest moves he made as a GM here.
So you're saying they told Sheary not to score this year to save the 3rd? - thatsapickle
Yeah, it was part of the stealth tank. The hardest part of the whole thing though was convincing Bogo not to score 15 goals and emerge as a top-pairing defenseman along side Dahlin.
