$4.5 on a 4 year deal for a 27 year old guy that's going to "Eric Haula" the (frank) outta this place is right on.

And you're going to hear complaints no matter what we do or don't do.

- Powerslave

Should have done the Haula trade

Still could sign Donski

It's not one or the other though, that's my issue

Would you rather have CJ Smith and a 5th? Or Haula

Say Haula goes off and before the deadline Botts and him sit down and his contract demands are crazy high, well then he gets moved for a 1st or 2nd and a prospect...CJ Smith and a 5th for a 2nd round pick and a good prospect? Sign me up

Say he drops back to a 40 point player and the Sabres are out of it (I hope not) well then he gets moved at the deadline for a 3rd and a meh prosepct, still better than CJ Smith and a 5th.

Worst case he suck and he walks at the end of the season and all it cost was CJ Smith who isn't going to crack the roster in Buffalo full time anyway

So that's why Sheary busted this year.... he was considerate of our 3rd rounder.

Sheary for 25 this year. COUNT IT.

- JVince11

It would have been pretty funny if he had 19 goals and the 20th was ruled back on an offside or something. Housley challenges his own goal for offside

Where is the Hurricanes Logo in the carpet of the locker room?
I mean if he poops there, it should definitely then be a 3rd

- IonSabres

Hell make it a 2nd if he finds one of their Cup Banners and drops a deuce on that

Isn't it his job to do that?

Or conversely, isn't it Botterill's job to calll Vegas and say "who's available?"

- jcragcrumple

Why are you panicking before the week of July 1st free agency?

Or even prior to the October roster release.

You really think the Sabres are just gonna sit back this off season?

Ok.

Let's talk about ROR or Lehner instead

Haula was never a 40 point player, except for the one year where the whole team overachieved.

Again, you're complaining about something without knowing all the details and without knowing what else Botterill has going.

Regardless, that is the type of move that Botterill needs to make. I agree that it's not the end of the world that they didn't get him, but it's going to take some shrewd moves to make this team considerably better given the lack of trade capital the team really has.

So what you're saying is after a deal is "agreed" to on principle, both GMs then call the other 29 not involved and say this is what I got, beat it. No I don't think that happens. As for Botterill calling, possibly he had his eyes set higher on their roster/cap number vs a 28 year old winger with 1 season over 35 points? Who's also going to be up for a new contract after this season? I mean, with every player we/Botts "misses out" on, I wonder how we even have a 31st place roster. Should be in the ECHL.

Probably one of the few things he did correctly

He wasn't a bad player but that contract was BRUTAL

- Stripes77

He got lucky. Ehrhoff was still pretty decent at the point of compliance BO's, but he would have been a moron to keep him here for the additional 7 years. You could tell that there'd be no way he'd even come close to fulfilling that. Sure as poop, 2 years later and he was out of the league.

Yes, it's going to take some shrewd moves. And he has time to make them and by all accounts he working to do that.

But Eric Haula is not worth the last 5 pages of complaints.

Only if he gets double blade skates and uses a Walker to stay upright.

34 points playing 12:44 a game

53 points playing 17:22 a game

He got 350 more mins of ice time in a season

same assist rate per 60 mins

The only thing that went up was his goal rate per 60 he went from .9 to 1.3 (probably because PP time)

Say he goes back to 2.1 points per 60 instead of his 2.5 he got in his full season in Vegas

13 mins a night 82 games 1066 mins 37 points

17 mins a night 82 games 1394 mins 49 points

So he didn't do anything crazy different, except play more

He showed he can play top 6 mins when he played in Vegas and do it well

I never expected any trades until after July 1 once the draft was over. Some teams are preemptively trying to clear cap space, but the majority of them wait until they know who they have after Free Agency.

Would you consider bringing back Pommer as sitting back?
With Skinner as his big UFA signing, maybe Pommer is his Tier 3 or 4 signing.

Idk what you want me to tell you.

He didn't trade for him. There's a reason for that.

Why don't we let the off season play out. We can't ice a 64 man roster (basing that on the complaints about ALL the guys we should have traded for, because you know, gm-ing is easy.)
