Idk what you want me to tell you.
He didn't trade for him. There's a reason for that.
Why don't we let the off season play out. We can't ice a 64 man roster (basing that on the complaints about ALL the guys we should have traded for, because you know, gm-ing is easy.) - Powerslave
I think it's more significant that Vegas shopped him and others and the best they could do was an AHL center.
Would you rather have CJ Smith and a 5th? Or Haula
Say Haula goes off and before the deadline Botts and him sit down and his contract demands are crazy high, well then he gets moved for a 1st or 2nd and a prospect...CJ Smith and a 5th for a 2nd round pick and a good prospect? Sign me up
Say he drops back to a 40 point player and the Sabres are out of it (I hope not) well then he gets moved at the deadline for a 3rd and a meh prosepct, still better than CJ Smith and a 5th.
Worst case he suck and he walks at the end of the season and all it cost was CJ Smith who isn't going to crack the roster in Buffalo full time anyway - Stripes77

Look, I'll be honest, it'd be nice if the guy did anything at all. Patience is wearing thin around here.
But I'll say it every day. Nothing *needs* to happen today. It most certainly needs to happen before October 1st. - TheSabresTaco
I agree. I check these boards obsessively, becuase I know one of you is going to break the news of a trade. But he can't panic becuase of impatient fans. He needs to do this right, or why bother?
Or, because you know, it's JUNE 27TH, instead of making a dumb move, maybe we allow the gm to work, because maybe the guy has a plan.
It's downright hysterical that 90% of people on here think we should have traded for yet another 3rd liner who had ONE good year in his career because he "came cheap". Everyone wants change so much that you're willing to trade for trash because "it's new".
Ever think that Carolina didn't WANT CJ Smith, perhaps? This isn't (frank)ing Xbox. Let the man do his job. - Powerslave
Haula would have been a guy you can plug into the number 2 center spot for the year. This is the first move we weren't in on that bugged me
Trade bogo and scandella for 5th rd picks. Teams always want depth D. Keep those picks for depth so you can trade 2nds and 3rds for someone useful.
Rodriguez or Zemgus and a 2nd to Tampa for Johnson.
They already have 3 good Cs, need cap space. One of them goes to 4th line cheap.
We get Johnson as our #2 and move mitts to RW.
Olofsson/eichel/Sam
Skinner/Johnson/mitts
Solid top 6. This year is gonna be a little rough anyway. Hope for compliance buyouts in next CBA for Okposo. Add one more nice piece in 2020 draft. Will have a nice young core three lines (Davidson/cozens/aspland on 3rd), no bad contracts and plenty of room to sign our good players and probably one more good guy on D
I hated the buyout at the time, thinking it was nothing more than a doomsday scenario, but it was definitely one of the smartest moves he made as a GM here. - buffalofan19

So this team is good enough? - ImThatGuy
Ok, where did I say we're good enough?
Why didn't 29 other teams better that "lame" offer?
Yet AGAIN, I'll say, no one knows what Botterill has going on. To criticize a non move without knowing what else is happening is pointless. But it's a message board, so have at it.
