I know that I've said this before and some people said he's toast but I'd really like Derek Stepan as our 2C. Sure his 6.3M cap hit seems high but it's only for 2 years. Perfect stop gap frame.
If we were able to deal something like Nylander and another mid level prospect or mid round pick if they retained like 1.5-2M. Maybe they want a center like Asplund. They don't need any d corps help.
Then you have an experienced 2C at only 4.5-5M who had 5 straight ~55 point seasons before a down year this past year. He just turned 29 last week. We know he has wheels.
Olofsson - Jack - Reinhart
Skinner - Stepan - Casey/UFA
Smith/Sheary - Casey/ERod - KO
I could totally get on board with that. |

Well it would take 4 1sts or the likes of Casey, Maybe McCabe, Nylander/Olofsson, and still a 1st or two. |

female dog about no movements on the roster... at some point someone will bring up the guy i will not mention and that will occupy 4 hours of female doging.. then circle back to lack of moves |

with okposo, elie, larsson, sobotka, wilson and girgens all under contract
very good chance 4 for sure are on the opening day roster and as many as 6
this is not moving forward
this is not an upbeat north south team we were told botts wanted
I get keeping sheary around, he has wheels but this group of 6 guys will ensure another lottery pick - homiedclown

by offering lockport larry, gus and elie a contract, sabres as an organization is not moving forward but rather putting the blame on phil for the failed 2018-19 collapse - homiedclown
Good post
Phail lousley was hired to get dahlin/tkachuk
And a top 8-10 pick this year in the draft.
Maybe its deflecting, but I blame him for our recent failures

as of now, we are still a lock to be a bottom 10 team in the nhl - homiedclown
At least we will have cap space, picks and prospects. I was told that's what we need to have, forget progress. |

Assuming no further major moves, here's my lineup:
skinner -eichs - olofsson
sheary - rhino - tage/nylander
erod - mitts - tage/nylander
girgs - larry - okposo
If we don't bring in a 2C to bridge the gap until mitts is ready, rhino needs to be the guy IMO. I think he's ready to go back to C, certainly a better option at 2C then anyone else on the roster right now. In the perfect world we keep him with eichs/skins but we are not nearly deep enough to keep all that talent on the first line.
And if Botts can bring in one or 2 legit middle six wings, we won't be relying heavily on tage/nylander/VO to perform. But at some point we need to drop these guys in the water and see how they swim. Or outside shot someone we don't expect has a great summer/training camp and becomes a nice surprise for the middle six. Not banking on it, but it happens to other teams.
Should I hide now? |
