Accidentally hit the flag as my mouse freaked out when I tried to reply

it will be the first ringing of the bell on the 1st, nothing happened, and the whole place will be a tire fire.

I'll take Gerbe's word for it on prospects. Nobody on here puts the time in researching that kid does.

Gerbe latches on to something and wont let it go regardless of the evidence that slaps him in the face... as much research as he does while not working doesn't make up for the fact that every decision he makes in his life is pure emotion

72 goals was reason enough for me. Jealousy gets you nowhere.

Well I mean as the tank commander myself I posted several opinions. MHP is very good as well. Ion did the mock draft for us as well if I’m not mistaken.

Burakovsky would have been a nice low risk move. I liked him. Definitely brings more speed to the lineup if anything. Sakic is going to join Elway pretty soon with rings as a player and an exec.

Putting some things in perspective:

Have you watched the 30 for 30, Elway to Marino? I saw it last night (I know it is not new) as I was trapped on a plane with limited viewing options.

The back story relayed the behind the scenes actions require in order to make draft picks and putting together trades. In addition, none of those items are done in a vacuum as they coincide with other player negotiations and then how each scene form one story. The manipulation; the deception to get what you want. There are no cut and dry deals.

Until it happens, the deal was not on the table and the Sabres were never in it or out of it. It is my guess that the machinations necessary for the deal would blow everyone's mind.

Having said that, I am looking for a top six and a stronger defenseman. Whomever that is, I am waiting to see what will happen.

Avs are gonna be great, no doubt. Not sure what I think about spending a 2nd and 3rd for him though. That's almost what we gave up for Skinner. I thought he would fetch a 3rd or so

Yeah I think that was a little steep for my liking

I liked the idea of him but I wouldn't move a 2nd and a 3rd for him

Bennett must be worth 2 second rounders + then

This market is weird as hell. Haula goes for peanuts and then this

Age is one contributing factor...

A GM calling around to get a better deal might be a factor as well

It was in fact an emotional response from Gerbe because he really wanted the squirt.
Ok to be disappointed, but to turn the hate on the actual draft pick made was, well emotional.

Interesting fact that an article on The Athletic today showed a graph of CHL picks by year, over say last 12 2007? -2019
- for 8 years the data shows between 95 and 105, Average of 99, but started to dip slightly in 2013
- last 4 years it has steadily dropped now down to lower 80's

It is a trend, and it makes sense.
Early in the draft, select BPA
Later in the draft where differences are less significant and generally require longer development time, draft college and outside of CHL so you can control the asset longer and have a better chance to maximize each selection.

Pretty easy.
