Unfortunate, but an isolated incident. Who knows what really happened, but no need to stoop to ignorantly low levels.

That said, Sabres wouldn't be acquiring his GF, rather the player. Guy is a stud.
Thinking outloud,
He is older than Skinner, scores very well at EV, and has good underlying metrics.
He has 1 year left, so probably a somewhat comparable trade value (a bit more) and future contract value when UFA. Maybe at age 30 after next season he would settle for less term, but AVV $'s are likely similar.
Does it make sense to go after him with all the unknowns?
Debatable, but sure as hell wouldn't give the farm for potentially 1 year.
