Today feels like trade deadline day, that there will be trades made before FA starts and that it sounds like the Sabres don't have any options for any big ticket FA's so if they are going to bolster that putrid foward group it is going to be by trade.

nelson and scandella are perfect if we want to watch players freeze on the ice for when eichel or skinner receive a cheap shot and are laying on the ice


they need a little grit on the back end and in the middle 6 if they want to be a playoff team in 2020

I am so sick of addressing the D. 1st pick overall last year, Montour, Miller. It's time to address the forward ranks and in a big way. They need a legit 2nd line center and a top 6 winger. I don't know how they will get them both but that is why GMJB is paid the big bucks.

Last 5 years comparison between Larry and Sheahan

Sheahan- 36, 25, 13, 32, 19

Larry- 16, 17, 11, 17, 14

Not really that close although Larry's 11 points in 16/17 were on 36 games and 16 points in 14/15 were over 39 games. Sheahan has played more games but also has been healthier over that stretch.

I wouldn't have any issue getting Larry off this damn team and play Sheahan as 4C. At least he provides a little more offense.

He would rather trade them then lose them for nothing, everything is a value to Botterill, that's why he doesn't like dead money.

When you have D like Scandella bogo Risto and sort of McCabe that can’t make a break out pass. Our offense can’t transition and get the puck out. At times it felt like we were hemmed in our own end for minutes at a time.

On top of that our defense let in how many back door wide open goals to the other team?

Based on free agent players .... he seems to be targeting bottom 6 guys. No huge names. He knows he needs to make changes

I'm talking about now that it has been addressed, and I'm not sure if it was more of an issue. When you have 3, THREE skilled players who produce, one line, you have a serious problem up front that won't get you to the playoffs.

Like Curtis lazar signing that is supposed to happen. A 1 year cheap deal for a potential 3rd or 4th liner is fine. If it doesn’t work .... you waive him to Rochester. No harm done

I think Olofson will produce. I don't think Skinner will get 40 again so I hope others pick up his drop off and I think they will get a major piece or two. I'm just not sure who/what they will give up to get them.
