I think you are oversimplifying fake, the young guys will only get better, and they do get a poopty first round draw every year despite being top 6 in the standings.

Its not oversimplifying, good teams find a way to win. The leafs cant. Reg season really doesnt mean much, except to create revenue.

We don't need forwards... we have guys in the system that would likely do better than that bust.

We all know we need a defenseman and a better backup, and are having difficulty with that due to cap.

cheap FA forwards are low risk high reward. And the Leafs are one of the few teams who can sign one and if it doesn’t work pay them 850K to play on the Marlies all year.
