I don't know why the rush to trade Zaitsev. Seems to me we would be better served by letting Myers and Gardiner sign first.

agreed... this worries me.

looking at it purely practically... signing Gardiner for the rumored 6M+ would be dumb. He's got a wonky back, and the Leafs have two guys currently who can step in do what he does DEFENSIVELY right now, Dermott and Rosen.

Gardiner doesn't address any issue the Leafs have on defense... it would be simply be one of those "falling in love with our player things"....
