Zaitsev and hainsey were fantastic in that role. Need those guys back to keep up the 16th best pk. Don't change a thing.
You realize that team don't usually have their best players on the pk right? They typically put 3-4th liners out on the pk because the better players are too busy on the pp and playing huge 5on5 mins. |

You did like him after his first year, more pencilled in 3rd pair/7th I think it was. 🤷🏻‍♂️ - Garnie
Sure, didn't love him but as a 7th guy who cares.
He does some things well enough to get by, but other things that he lacks are way too obvious and frustrating (making a pass ) |

Do you want Hutton or not? - walshyleafsfan
Dermott is out. Yes they could use a place holder. And I said that in my comment so please read.
The point is the cheap contracts are going to be forwards. There is opportunities on the 4th like and special teams.
The Leafs really don’t need a reclamation project on D.
But either way it wouldn’t hurt if said D is willing to sign here...the Leafs don’t care if they have to pay a player 900k to play in the minors. |

Who knows what he is going to run.
Babcock runs the PK and forwards...doubt that is going to change. He gets the defence probably. The other coach from FLA gets the PP.
Leafs might have interest in some Flyers D. |

Sorry I was confused. You said you wanted Hutton because he's a bottom pairing playing top pairing minutes but then disagreed with another guy because the Leafs don't need any more bottom pairing D men.

This is not Toronto, Montreal is not accustomed to mediocrity and doesn't intend to be.
Habs blogger.
Team hasnt won since 1993. Just like Jays. Does anyone believe the Jays arent mediocre because they last won 25+ years ago?
NBA champion Toronto Raptors say hi.

Smith ran pk and defense, suspect that will be what hakstol does. He was a dman when he played.

Be nice if the Leafs had a top d man that could play on the PK like Geo, or Sutter or Weber or Chara. |

Sigh. It’s not something I should have to explain.
He said the Leafs should not be signing these “cheap” players as forwards and should rather only put money towards defence.
I said the Leafs don’t need any bottom pairing D but do need some 4th liners.
And I said Hutton in players of interest because of a Dermott which I clearly stated.
Don’t try and read into comments so much. Or just stop obsessing over me. Remember you don’t have to read. |

I love JT and all, but Im startig to wonder if that signing has hurt us, cosidering we had both Mathews and Marner on the up and up. We pretty much knew and some were even expecting McJesus money for Mathews, and what we got was kibd of a crap term and for a million less than him. I think the wild card here is Marner, I dont think anyone thought he'd be the one that we be having trouble signing or fitting under the cap and just how good he turned out to be..we keep saying good problems to have but we also have a cap to deal with.
It looks like our window is 3 years that we need to win in, and we are at least 1 stud D and very good 3rd D away from this. I say 3 because thats how long we have Riley left for and hes gonna get paid well on his next one.
We need to trade Willy and Marner needs to be had for less than 10 ideally. But I dont think regression is a 100% but I dont see progression either. We could totally beat Boston, its just we never freakin do. |

PK wasn’t too bad, 7th in goals/against 4v5 and 4th for shots against. |

Absolutely it hurt us. Him, in a vacuum is great. And either way you have to make that signing. It only hurts if they refuse to move other highly paid players |

Or did signing JT afford the Leafs the ability to shop Matthews to see if they can get one go the best defensemen in the league? |
