Also, the Blackhawks just trade a 2nd and 3rd for Shaw as well as a swap of 7th round picks.
- golfingsince

Didn’t they trade Shaw to the Habs just the other day?

Not at all. There is no way you can play him in the top 6 for an entire season. Don’t waste a second thinking about him.
- bloatedmosquito

He added that physical play we sorely needed

Yeah, for 2 2nds two years ago. two years of a player to move from a 2nd to a 3rd, not bad.

Speculation on Twitter is that oilers bought out sekera to spend big money in free agency on a dman. Wonder if they are also in on Myers. Hopefully they get him

This has been a good team when Edler and Tanev play. Hence the need for depth.
- neem55

lol haven't we been bottom 10 for 4 years straight with those two in the lineup?

I'd be stoked for Neon Dion, just for the outrage.

If the price point was similar, who'd you rather have, Ferland or Nyquist?

Well if paid close attention, you would notice our terrible record when one or both are injured and our surprisingly good record when they are both healthy. Im not saying they both stay healthy, im saying they need to be deeper for when it happens.

1 year at 2M to be a bottom pair guy isnt bad. He’s awful at 7 mil trying to make him top 4, but the big dummy would be somewhat useful in Schenns spot. And ya, the hens would be at it!

Umm... no they are not. The lineup refers to those that are on the bench. When not on bench bad, when on bench good

Point was is they don't make us a better team. We've been on plenty a losing streak with them in the lineup over the past 4 seasons. Hence the bottom 10 finishes 4 years in a row. Sure Edler had a better year last year but still only a 30 point Dman and Tanev a 20 point Dman when healthy. I don't view them as players that make us 'better'. To me, they keep us "Stale'. But it is what it is.

Hughes will make us 'better'.

But I will give them some credit...we have also moved up 3 spots per season over the last 3 years with them in the lineup. But still bottom 10.
