I don’t believe Tyler Myers upgrades the team by a significant margin. Being tall isn’t enough, just like being Gritty isn’t enough.

Myers is pretty mobile & an upgrade.
The depth he adds is what is important.
He’s not the answer but a good piece that we can use now & later. It takes another RHD to push him down. Barrie? Woo?

Green had this team(one that them majority of hockey fans projected to be in the Hughes sweeps) in the playoff race up until the last couple of months of the regular season, despite key injuries.


He'll have this team in the playoffs next year assuming the core isn't ravaged by injuries.

Thoughts on reworking the 1st to TBL...
Make it the 2021 1st if want to OS say Connor or another top RFA that costs at most a 1st/2nd/3rd.

Free Agency is literally no different than the draft that everyone thinks their GM should have 5 late round picks and the GM should find 5 diamonds.

There's the few that only want cheap depth signings that are again actually diamonds and sold for first round picks at the TDL.

You want a .900K contract going to find mostly Burmistrov's and Skille's who upgrade on no one.

You want mid range mid term you get Gagner, Roussel, Beagle, Some able to match the value others aren't

You want expensive and actual possible upgrade. Either looks good or bad.

The people that feel that their GM should do nothing on today. With less GM's after players. Myers probably goes to another team on a real cap friendly deal and that team upgrades over yours and gets a guy with a better contract. They upgrade and you don't.

Harsh reality of free agency day and being a GM, you take chances or you get left behind.

TG told him that they were going after someone better and that is what his role was going to be. Myers is an upgrade over Schenn.

Yeah looks like they'll take a step back next year waiting for guys to come in. I think they get to keep their 1st if it's a top 10 pick which it might be. Dubas seems like he's concentrating on getting the contract situations in line and sorting out the dubious ones Lou Lams signed

Ottawa was really doing the tank correctly until they traded their 1st round pick this year.

Byram and Chabot with Brannstrom. That would have been pretty great.
