He made a few canucks D prospects look silly in some of those drills. Seems like he fell due to size, big time excited for the kid. |

There isnt a single poster in here who doesnt want the team to get better though lol. Theres about 50 posters who all have different ideas on how to get there, in the end though, we all have one common goal. - Codes1087
After reading a couple of pages last night. I kind of wondered about that.
You basically have three avenues to pick from
Draft and develop
trades
free agency
GM's are going to use everything at their disposal to get better. |

This place would be dead if everyone deadset agreed on everything lol. It's the difference of opinion and angles that brings us back reading and posting. After everything, it's hard to argue that even jkuzzi doesnt want the team to improve all the while trading boeser lol. At the end of the day, we all want a good team and a cup. |

I sort of do wonder why he fell. Size seems to be less of an issue than it was years ago. He's not even all that small by today's NHL standards.
CGY took Pelletier at 26 and he's smaller.
It looks like teams that had different needs in the 2nd round in terms of goaltending and larger D was the reason why he probably fell a few positions. The benefits of a single playoff series win that everybody freaks out about.
Even though he's an inch and 5 lbs lighter than one of the best players Schwartz |

Don't have to agree on everything. There will be plenty of differences on how to use each avenue. It's the people that think only using one single avenue is the only way to go.
I'd like a cup. Benning will lead us to one. |

Zaitsev is probably better than Ceci or close to the same. Connor Brown had 29 points. Burakovsky had 25 points and was traded for a 2nd and 3rd. Carcone got Levio.
It only gets better for Dubas. A 1st round pick for a first round exit. A 1st round pick for a bad contract. |

I think we are getting very close to the team we want. They need a little more aging , guys like Petey Bo Brock Quinn and Demko .
We can pretty soon start graduating players one at a time instead of the mass exoduses . - VANTEL
Yep agree. If Miller doesn't work out (but I think he will) we'd need another 'core' guy to add to the five players you mentioned but it's taking shape for sure. |

Free Agency is literally no different than the draft that everyone thinks their GM should have 5 late round picks and the GM should find 5 diamonds.
There's the few that only want cheap depth signings that are again actually diamonds and sold for first round picks at the TDL.
You want a .900K contract going to find mostly Burmistrov's and Skille's who upgrade on no one.
You want mid range mid term you get Gagner, Roussel, Beagle, Some able to match the value others aren't
You want expensive and actual possible upgrade. Either looks good or bad.
The people that feel that their GM should do nothing on today. With less GM's after players. Myers probably goes to another team on a real cap friendly deal and that team upgrades over yours and gets a guy with a better contract. They upgrade and you don't.
Harsh reality of free agency day and being a GM, you take chances or you get left behind. - manvanfan
I think this is BS. Not over paying for a guy does not mean someone else got a good deal.
My opposition to the big ticket guys, at least this off season, is that I don't think they are that good, and it's a season or two premature to be shooting their proverbial load.
Also, good morning, happy Canada Day! I'm off to work, I'll catchup on the comings and goings tonight. Hopefully we're all in a good mood |

I like the two top draft picks this year. I can see them in the top 6 within two years.
I think in three to four years this will be a very strong team.

“I like the Myers signing...I think he can be an asset for the Canucks. On top of that, the five-year deal is much more attractive than the seven.”
@JSportsnet approves of the #Canucks addition of Tyler Myers - manvanfan
The five year deal isn't actually all that bad it's the player we don't need lol |
