I can’t believe Francesco Aquilini still allows Jim Benning to participate on July 1st after so many bad contracts.

I can't believe you actually think it's not Aqua pressuring JB to make the playoffs this year. Who do you think is giving JB his directives?

Take a fiier on Sekera at 1 year 1-2 mil. Of he can stay healthy he's a good depth guy and if we're out of the hunt and he's healthy a cheap rental. Is JB capable of a move like this? Beginning to have my doubts.

You can never have too many reclamation projects right? We can put him on the shelf right beside Sven

at one year show me I would do it. Not trying to say he should get anything else.

He has played a combined 60 games over the last two years and put up 12 assists. I am going to pass on this idea. Why waste a roster spot

Oh for sure he is, the point was though, that Benning has made a lot of mistakes while trying to accomplish that directive when it comes to July 1st.

Frankly I’m surprised Aquilini has given Benning that much rope given he’s suppose to be so cheap.

And Gagner, and Spooner, and Grandlund, and Pouliot, and Pedan, and Clendening, and Vey, and Bartkowski, and Etem, and Brad Richardson, and Yannick Weber, and Jack Skille, and and and.

No one is picking Sven up. Everyone knows he is one hit away from a Marc Savard LTIR...who wants to pay a guy that's probably going to have a career ending concussion this year

Insurance would pay his contract but I don’t think there’s a market for him, you’re right.

Who would take him?

It is not really much of a savings to buy him out. If he doesn't produce it is almost worth it to send him to the Comets and let him help those guys. I never liked his contract or him from when he signed.

It doesn't sound like Canucks are counting him in the top 6 . Is he a third line player?

Interesting...

GM Botterill won’t comment on Ristolainen and if there was a trade request
Lance Lysowski: Sabres GM Jason Botterill wouldn’t say if defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen had requested a trade. Will keep any conversations with his players private.

The market dictates, you have to outbid and that's why guys end up expensive. Hopefully JB doesn't do any big overpayments as I agree LE is still one that's hurting us. I didn't really mind the others that much, they are expired for the most part. After Eriksson his worst UFA contract is Beagle. I can live with that even though it's overpayment.

Some of the crap floating around

"The Canucks had offered the Nashville Predators a 2nd round pick for P.K. Subban, with the Predators asking for Adam Gaudette in a deal."

None of those guys were very good to begin with. You look at Sekera's numbers and he has had a very solid career that just got waylais by two bad injuries. I'm not sign him to 5 years, but he's worth a one year deal IMO

We still need to fill out a roster. If Tanev is traded you’ll need someone steady with experience. If it’s cheap and short term I would consider it one of Benning’s better moves.

Can't agree . He is made of glass and has slowed down. He is not even producing anymore in the games he played. He has 12 points in two years.

Hopefully short term. He will bring toughness like Schenn did. Don't overpay him . Edler is gone in two years and hopefully OJ can learn how to play D.
