That's a lot of money. - JRR1285
(Sorry in advance to everyone on the thread, I'm just happy with Panarin and ragging on the Florida "advantage") So if he went to a tax state, he'd want 14 million?

Aaaaaand they took Spencer Knight 13...
In 3 years they will regret it. Dumbest decision I can remember - Slimtj100
He probably wouldn't be ready to start for 3-4 years though. It's not as bad as you think it is. We don't know what clauses if any are in that contract, but I could see this being like Bishop and Vasilevsky.

Ok but they’re paying a goalie 10 million in years 4-5-6-7. It’s just dumb, im sorry
7 years x $10 M per year, Bob to Florida - jimbro83
I think Panarin was trying to get away from Bobrovsky and that is why he chose the Rangers
The guy is already 30 and has seen his save pct drop nearly a full point in each of the last 2 seasons. Florida wants to tie up $10M for 7 years on that trend? Niemi, Khabibulin, Bryzgalov...the list goes on and on of goalies who peaked at 28-29 and then fell off a cliff before age 32

If there is no NMC maybe they are planning to expose him. So they can compete now with Bob, then just scrape him off the cap in a couple years when Knight might be ready.Knight is only 25 when the 7 years are up anyway.

Big difference is that they unloaded Bishop when he was 30 instead of acquiring him
