you need to start playing the guy you took 13th overall in a draft well before then, or else you should have drafted someone else

He probably wouldn't be ready to start for 3-4 years though. It's not as bad as you think it is. We don't know what clauses if any are in that contract, but I could see this being like Bishop and Vasilevsky.

I think Panarin was trying to get away from Bobrovsky and that is why he chose the Rangers

The guy is already 30 and has seen his save pct drop nearly a full point in each of the last 2 seasons. Florida wants to tie up $10M for 7 years on that trend? Niemi, Khabibulin, Bryzgalov...the list goes on and on of goalies who peaked at 28-29 and then fell off a cliff before age 32

If there is no NMC maybe they are planning to expose him. So they can compete now with Bob, then just scrape him off the cap in a couple years when Knight might be ready.Knight is only 25 when the 7 years are up anyway.
