As of this moment, the Ducks, Kings, Hurricanes and Islanders are the only teams not to sign a player today.

Sounds like Anders Lee is nearing a deal... Wouldn't surprise me if he's back wearing the 'C' for the #Isles, but we shall see shortly

Kreider and Lee are fairly comparable but Lee has scored more than 30 goals once and even hit 40. He is also a Center. If Kreider gets 6-6.5M life is good |

Psst...Lee hasn't played center since he played for Notre Dame |

How do you think this contract impacts Kreider's? I admittedly don't watch enough of Lee to know how he compares beyond just looking at the numbers |

Kreider is probably a better all-around player. Hasn't produced as many goals but he'll also probably age a bit better since his game might translate down the line since he can skate. I'd say he should probably be comparable to that deal, give or take maybe 500k. He'll be basically the same age when he reaches UFA status and depending on what the cap upper limit does next year. If it rises significantly then maybe he gets close to $8M |

It's a good one for the Rangers. I would've probably been OK paying him $12.5M, so a million less than that is good value.
From an Isles standpoint, I never got overly confident they'd sign him. McKenzie's tweet was a bit of a ball tickle yesterday, so that sucks, but from day 1 I figured he'd be a Ranger. |

Got it thanks. If the deal is gonna be 7x8 I think the rangers need to move him unfortunately |

Sorry, I am seated firmly in reality. I think most of the guys on this site were. I was scared there for awhile that they'd lose Lee in pursuit of Panarin but that's cleared up now.
I wanted him, no doubt about it, but it's not like they can't put that $12.5M to work improving elsewhere. |

Kreider would be smart to not sign now and wait and see what the cap does next year before committing to anything. So yeah, I would imagine the Rangers probably don't want to pay him that giving the type of money they're committing to Panarin and the first RFA contracts they're going to have to dole out over the coming years. |
