I just don't think he would sign, cause wasn't Ruff with Dallas when the problems started?i
- mdw7413

I think the problem was, he just sucks as a hockey player

Why though? Even if it takes them a year or 2, are we competing for a cup this year? Probably not. Trust me, I’m on board for trades, love trades, talk about trades all the time, trade proposals, trade ideas, trades trades trades, but for once I think we’ve done enough and don’t need to make a big trade just yet. I think we addressed our biggest weakness in our D, took a legit shot at Panarin and continued to stock the prospects. I think now it’s time to just give it some time and see what we have.
- nyrangers9479

Actually agree with you.
Got some young talent coming up, a few expiring contracts to free up space next season and the season after. If we miss out on Panarin, stay the course.

I want to see an offer sheet to either Marner or Point if we let Panarin go to the Isles
- KreiderBomb

With the way Tampa is clearing cap the last 2 weeks, I think Point is back. Marner will get more money from another team.

I am not feeling confident today

Well, there's that possibility too.

Yes, but I don't think he just magically turned into a flake. This guy makes Kovalev's work ethic look like Gordie Howe.
- 2sticks1puck

People said the same thing about Grabner, Pouliot, etc.. For what he would cost I would take a chance for a year. There is absolutely no downside

Rangers have not been eliminated by Panarin—at least have not been told as much—but at this point he has higher offers. Remains to be seen whether JD ups bid...If Panarin wanted to stay in Columbus, likely would have been done by midnight for 8th year.

From last years roster we’re adding:
Fox Trouba Kravtsov Shestyorkin Kakko. That’s not an improvement over last year?

- nyrangers9479

That's another reason why I don't want them to tie up 14-15% of their cap space in Panarin only, when the starting roster this season exclusive of in goal, will have 3 new & potential top tier players featured, as if in effect, they were freebies handed to us. That's especially so in the case of Kakko and Trouba, for the most recent additions.

If we don't get Panarin, JD has failed on his first assignment.

Countering that, per Portzline: "Panarin is believed to be mulling seven-year offers from the New York Islanders and New York Rangers"

I think Shatty should be on the team regardless of whether we get Panarin or not. I've never been his biggest fan, but he was pretty good from January on. Maybe he's just finally healthy. I know we have Trouba now and ADA was really good, but you have to have some good veteran D on your blueline. This isn't NHL 20, all your young guys don't magically turn into 90 overalls.
- 2sticks1puck

I agree provided that Shatty's knee has fully recovered to 100% strength from his surgery. I even wondered if Shatty could be used like Smith, and play as a winger. He has the touch in scoring during shootouts, and would have a little less to worry about as far as defensive responsibilities go, which would benefit his game.

Sometimes the best moves are the ones you don't make. If he really think 12 million is too high, then I hope he sticks to his guns.

I still think that Panarin signs with the Rangers. I just can not see him signing with the Isles. If he wants to play in a big city, and be a marquee name, the Islanders aren't the answer. Not knocking them, it's just a fact. Especially considering the split schedule between Brooklyn and Long Island, that sounds like a complete pain in the ass. Who wants to do that for another few years?

Plus the Rangers are going to have several other Russians on the team, I believe that is also a strong draw. I think the difference in money would be negligible after those things are factored in.

All things the same, doesn’t make a lot sense for him to choose isles over Rangers. Then again, all things may not be the same.

Let’s keep the OTT-TOR theme going here: Expect OTT to sign veteran defenceman Ron Hainsey and forward Tyler Ennis to contracts today. Both, of course, played in TOR last season.

I really hope they tried to figure out how to get rid of one of Staal, Smith or Shatty, i don't see how all 3 help this team on the ice and on the cap

Lammerillo has probably pushed it to 12 mil. achieving 1 of 2 things. He gets him, cause JD wouldn’t match, or he saves the 12 mil if he chooses Rangers.
