The Timo Meier contract is going to provide a good basis on what Laine and especially Connor should be paid.

Doubt you will get Connor for $6 mill a season, let's it real long term

Laine 9-10mil
KC 6.5-7mil
Copp 4mil

This is what I expect the contracts to look like.

So Jets lose Tanev at $3.5 MM for 6 years and Myers at $6 MM for 5 years. Too much money for Tanev as I thought $2.5 MM tops. Myers was just about what I predicted. I wish the Jets could have kept him at that salary and term as there is nothing better to replace him with for the same money.

Buffalo has been active so maybe the Jets are making some room for Ritsolainen but while Ritso can log big minutes I also see him as not the greatest defenseman when it comes to the actual defense aspects of his game.

Otherwise, it's hard to imagine that the Jets can be an improved team for 2019-20 season after what I consider the loss of two very good all-around hockey players and little left out there as replacements.

- jetsnation

We will be fine jetsnation, have the players in the system to replace these guys without skipping a beat. I still believe the coach is the bigger issue not the players

If the Jets truly believe in draft and develop. Short term deals is what they should be going for. You have to believe in your drafting and should never overpay for a player, especially a winger.

None of the Jets prospects are highly regarded Ross, they are 3-4 d-man. Heinola is at least 2 years of seasoning before making the team. Samberg won't be a full NHLer until 2021.

Plus all depends on how much longer Maurice remains coach. The Jets defense has been at best mediocre in 4 of the 5 years he has been coach and that was with a defense consisting of Enstrom Buff Trouba Morrissey and Myers for most of it. I seriously doubt he can get a bunch of young guys to play better.

I blame the coach and systems more than players

Samberg is ready now
Heinola will absolutely be ready for next year
Niku and Poolman both ready now.

It’s all good except coaching

Couldn't agree more. Absolutely loved Tanev - a 100% player - but too much money for Jets as a 3rd liner.
Also will miss Tyler Myers, was hoping the Jets could keep him for those $$, but the contract is bonus loaded which the Jets don't believe in. Good bye Earl!
Jets still lacking a top-four d-man, not sure where the answer lies? Maybe have to go with what they have.
If so, good draft class next year?

110 goals in 3-seasons, look at the comparables in that time frame. It’s filled with guys that are making over 10mil. Austin Matthews (11.6mil) is a direct comparable at 111 goals. Yes, more points & plays centre, therefore Laine will make less, but not that much less & Matthews didn’t sacrifice UFA years.

Rexypoo's dream of getting rid of Myers, Tanev and Charriot is coming to fruition.
- TheUltimateJet

I got my wishes of losing Enstrom, Postma and Dano....so why not grant Rexy a few wishes.

$6 million is not an overpay for Kyle Connor, winger, goalie or centre. Trust me.

Drafted and developed by Jets.

My guess would be offer sheet or holdout. But who knows these days?

Hope not for the Jets. The Nylander saga was a disaster for the Leafs last year. Hurt the team and the player. Would have been better to trade him.

According to TSN, his absolute max should be 7.5.

Interesting. TSN about to get into the RFAs now.

Chevy should swap him for Aho

I don’t think Samberg is ready at all, but he’s closer than Stanley.

People are sleeping on Heinola. He will absolutely be ready next season, and probably for top 4 duty. Under Maurice, this means he will be ready next season, play in the AHL for 1.5 seasons, then play 11 minutes with our worst dman for the remaining half of that last year

Love the optimism, but let's get real the only 19 year old who took a regular shift last year was Heiskanen, and the next closest was Jokiharju who got in 38 games.
The Jets are better off bringing Heinola over next year and have him adjust to the smaller ice surface in the AHL.

Heinola also tracks to be better than both.
The Jets are better off letting the best players play while our cup window is still barely clinging to life. Given the lack of depth on the left side (Morrissey, Niku, the end), he will be

The Jets will be reloaded in 2 years Rexpoo.

For my purpose Samberg and Heinola taking regular shifts in 2021-22. Fingers crossed Niku turns out, that gives the Jets a top 4 where Morrissey is the oldest at 26. Maybe Buff signs to play the 3rd pairing.

Hellebuyck will be 28, I think Berdin will be legit, he will be 23

Forward group of Scheifele Laine Conner Ehlers Copp Lowry. Scheifele the oldest at 28. Maybe one of Vesalainen Roslovic or Appleton can fill out a top 6 position.

Aside from finding a top 2c what more could you ask for.

Vesalainen has a shot at being a top line player, to be sure. I think we all know this season is already over, so the one after is our shot

Also, Aho at $8.5mil puts Laine at 8 and Connor at like 6-6.5. Montreal is owed some beers from us Jets fans

Yep Bergeron with that offer sheet did Chevy a solid.

If Chevy gets these guys longer term at under 15 million combined it's a bloody steal.

So far i like the sidelines view and getting Beaulieu for 1 million is fine. I'm not content with the defence as it is now but I am thinking it gets better and that after this initial storm there might be a deal to bring in some help.

Copp, Lowry Vesalainen seems nice to me.

Glad for Tanev, that's what you work for I'm just happy it's not Winnipeg on the other side of that deal.

Myers' deal is well- something only Jim Benning could create and that's the work of a deranged sorcerer. Have fun with that one.

Not exactly sure on RFA rules, but if Canes are not going to match because of the large cash signing bonuses, the Jets should try to deal KC (or whoever) to get Aho & then match the offer. We finally get our 2nd line Centre at a good contract that we know has chemistry with Laine. We do have the wealthiest owner in Canada so the bonus shouldn’t bother us.

Also, don’t forget that pretty much any larger contract the Jets give out needs to include a 500k/yr ‘Winnipeg’ bonus for playing here.
