It feels like the Phaneuf deal all over again!

I'm pretty impressed Dubas has managed to trade Marleau, Zaitsev, and Brown this offseason, and so fast. Even Brown, while a serviceable depth player, was overpaid for what we were getting out of him. We can easily sign/promote a player getting near league minimum that can fill his role.

Not sure whether Ceci or Harpur will actually play for us or what.

Brown was overpaid at 2 mill for what we were getting out of him? He was playing a bottom 6 role because of our depth of forwards. In a top 6 role he will succeed to a 40-55 point player . And ceci is signing a 4.5, 1 year deal with the leafs already has confirmed he will be on the leafs roster this season.

He has completely failed when given mins with Matthews the past two years. He hasn't even posted over half a point per game with him. He is a 4th line forward making too much.

he got passed by johnsson and kap on the depth chart. no space for him in the top 6.

sens leading scorer going into this year is chabot at 55 points. good luck on brown getting +40 in ottawa.

Let's not pretend Brown wasn't given opportunity in the top 6 or top 9. He was given multiple chances all year and never performed. He was ahead of both Johnson and Kapanen on the depth chart and was passed by both because they seized their opportunities.

Wish Brown the best in Ottawa, hope he finds his game, but this years performance is nothing to be missed.

Agree to disagree it's not like Johnson had a massive breakout year with Matthew's he put up what 40 points to Matthew's 70.. while tavarse put up 88 and marner over 90..
