Ceci has always had that. ....He is just about to break through year. Maybe a change will do that.

Yes, Ceci verbally agreed to a one year, $4.5 million contract with the Leafs. Arb case likely would have come in above that and that wouldn’t have worked for Toronto. Good opportunity for Ceci to raise his market value.

Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie
now
Key point here is there will be no salary arb and, as I said, Ceci will be on the Leaf blueline this season:

Let’s keep the OTT-TOR theme going here: Expect OTT to sign veteran defenceman Ron Hainsey and forward Tyler Ennis to contracts today. Both, of course, played in TOR last season.

To anyone worried about the Maple Leafs' penalty kill: D.J. Smith just helped swipe three of Toronto's best killers in Hainsey, Zaitsev and Brown.

What’s crackin you Leafy (frank)ers?

Cousin Kyle seems busy. I don’t hate the Zaitsev deal, but what’s the plan for signing chuckles? 4C? Trading Kadi?

To be fair, Toronto is also Ottawa’s dumping ground. Ceci, Harpur, greening, cowen, etc. Lol

Never seen 2 teams (frank) themselves and the other team so many times. Lol

Probably 4C, face off guy, depth/insurance. Can't argue with that for 700K.

The only way Kadri's gone is if Nylander steps into that role and I'm not sure they want that. Kadri's a 2C playing in the 3 hole, which makes us strong down the middle. Spazda in that 3 hole does not.

I don't think Spezza signed to play 8 mins a night next to Tom and Jim on the 4th line.

Spezza can play 3C no problem.

He has been good the last few seasons he has just had low shooting percentages.

I'm of the opinion that you can teach anyone to be a good PKer. It's so much more about positional play and courage under fire with a few specializations (like faceoffs, which Spezza can do) and reach.

I think he'll slot in on Kadri's wing. He's played some RW.

He could, but he's not as good as Kadri, that's my point: Kadri at 3C gives us strength/depth down the middle far greater than just Spezza there.
