There are so many paths here.
I think signing Barrie should be priority number 1....you just can't replace top pairing talent.
But what if Dermott plays lights out? Cranky Leaf fans will first say they are screwed because now they can't sign both Muzzin/Barrie...but if Dermott plays lights out he deserves the money but also deserves the 2LHD spot...Muzzin is not really needed.
If he plays meh and is still a 3rd pairing D he is tradable or can just sign for cheap.
Don't forget about Liljregen and Sandin too. - Santo_44
They might be thinking Sandin takes the place of Barrie next year. If he can it would sure free up alot of cash. |

They now have two Reillys with Muzzin and Dermott. How much more do you want? - shack67
They got worse defensively. Barrie is not close to Reilly in his own end. Reilly is above average defensively while Barrie is near the bottom of the league. Muzzin can only make up for so many of Ceci's mistakes and although Dermott is a good up and comer he isn't ringing any bells yet. Who is going to kill penalties?
What do I want? A Stanley Cup.
All this celebrating getting under the cap actually shows just how easily this fan base can be sucked in. |

We’ll be fine, we can tinker more at the TDL. I don’t think we’ll have much problems making the PO’s |

Strategy. Dump it into Barrie or Ceci's corner, and hammer them and then when you get possession they won;t be able to get it back. Boston will have no issues implementing this. They need better defenders to go deep. |

Sandin isn’t replacing Barrie next year.....
Sandin is a LD.
RD in terms of value to the Leafs it’s Barrie, Liljegren, Ceci, Holl.....
If there’s a player the Leafs can resign it should be Barrie all day. |

Completely false.
Barrie and Rielly are phenomenal at getting the puck out quick.

This may not be worth worrying about.
Next summer will probably see a lockout.
Based upon the two previous CBA impasses, we may see "get out of jail free" compliance buyouts (players love 'em, owners love 'em, so no arguments), and possibly even a rollback of salaries (it happened before).
So a lot of unknowns. - Atomic Wedgie
All the rumours I’ve heard is that it’s likely there isn’t a lockout.
If. that changes I am going to worry about it.
But as of right now it’s not worth the time. |

strategy. give ceci a 3M signing bonus.
dump his ass the tdl if he sucks as bad as we expect. replace him internally or by trade.
and boston seemed fine with mcavoy and krug leading their team in ice this playoffs.

Barrie is literally Gardiner in his own end. The best thing that happened for Reilly's career was to get the hell away from Gardiner. Barrie is a great PP guy, and a guy I like having but he needs to play with a total homer and cannot face other teams top lines.
So then the question is, who faces the top lines? Ceci? Poor Muzzin on that one. Who is killing penalties? Ottawa tried that with Ceci. Huge pressure on Reilly now to save the day defensively. |

Krug is 5'11 and twice as tough as anyone on the Leafs, and better defensively. I'm not sure how these guys are comparable to the Leafs. |
