Like I said, I like the trade on principle. They just need to do more to shore up their own end. Replacing Gardiner with a more offensive Gardiner isn't going to cut it when it matters.

Guy look at the firepower the Leafs have. Matthews, Tavares, Marner, Nylander, Kapanen, Johnsson, Rielly and now you're adding Barrie? Who the F wants to face that?

Anybody catch Dubas on TSN this evening? Ceci's going to arbitration, so it's not a guaranteed 4.5M like reported.

I do think he's going to play this year and will be interesting to see how he does playing with Rielly (Dubas talked about Muzzin and Barrie playing together at the Worlds) who's obviously an upgrade to everyone then Sens have outside of Chabot.

Does that mean we can walk away?

Dubas commented on the old school defensive defensemen's style of "backing in and then running guys" vs. mobile modern D that gap up and challenge early and how they're looking for that from Barrie (and Rielly, Muzzin to an extent too).

I think with Barrie, we're getting a gaff-free version of Gardiner essentially, and one with better offensive tools like his shot.

Doughty played like poop last year. Can't blame him, what was there for motivation? But even then, even after a garbage year, he's still plus 59 for his career.

Dude. Your in love with the Leafs, Barrie, according to you is a top pairing d man. Nothing matters accept how great this trade was and how mazing Barrie is. Okay.
Then next year, like Nylander and other guys you got behind, we will see what actually happens. But sure you win. Plus minus means nothing and Barrie is a superstar.

Doughty has no desire?

They have good players. Ya. And? Who are they intimidating when they went 500 after December last year? Unless your saying Barrie replacing Gardiner now make them a legit contender.

500 the second half.

How dare I not celebrate the Leafs.

We can, but I don't think they do. I think they looked at his usage and think he'll do better with a solid partner like Rielly or Muzzin. Ceci played with garbage D partners; fringe NHLers for the most part and only like 21% of the time with Chabot (where they both had their best numbers playing together).

I think we can safely expect a more physical, grittier Gardiner, but with the same mental lapses from time to time. If paired with a solid partner, that should be enough to keep him in our top 4.

Yeah Ceci is still no lock to be on this team. Dubas is seeing if he can use that 4.5 better.

I doubt they walk away as well. But all people go on about is how much Ceci sucks.

If he is as bad as everyone says, then the arbitration system is completely broken to give him over 4.5mil.
