I didn't expect much in the opening of FA today, no Tier1 or even Tier 2 signings; rather some value adds in cheaper Tier 3 players for the bottom 6 over the next couple of days.

They said Trades would be the approach used to make changes, and they did that to some degree with Miller and Vesey. They still need a short-term fix for 2C, and they have a glut of D men particularly RhD as well as LW.
Do we see some packages in trades over next couple of days?

I don't like the plan to use LW's at RW...but it may have to be for this season.

What UFA out there (that they had a reasonable chance at...Panarin, Duchene, and Pavelski had zero interest in coming here, and anyone with an IQ above 40 knew it) could they have signed today that would make you say "this team is a lot better than it was at the end of the season"? There really isn't any. If this team is going to improve, it is going to be via the trade route. We all knew it for at least 2 months now.

I agree. see Okposo a few years ago. Fail rate is high and with our history, not good.
Buffalo needs to draft well and trade well. Consistent coaching isn't a bad option either. Our depth is higher than it has been in a long while. They need more time unfortunately.
