I wanted Housley fired the first year I got called crazy - gerbe75pts
Because you were. Unless it's Barry Melrose benching Stamkos you never fire a coach that early. 2 years is arguably too early, but he was in way over his head. |

Most of the bumholes on here want Miller on the top pair. Nothing like a 60%+ O-Zone guy that plays 19 minutes a night on the top pair! |

The hurricanes new owner is loaded. He just bought and destroyed a football league - jcragcrumple
Hahahaha, just read a good article on that. the AAF was an abomination from the start. Dead money, horrible asset management, bloated contracts with no financial backing... Dundon bought in for 250 million without doing any research or talking to any lawyers basically... And the entire thing was hanging on by a thread from the second training camp opened.
He invested in a league that was doomed and rightfully folded it as soon as he could, once he realized they had no actual money other than his to pay for the entire operations... that were at least double that 250 million. |

I didn't like him as a player, and he was softest of soft nhl players at a time the nhl was tougher.
What players would respect him, especially after he called them soft |

If he would have stayed in Cleveland, he would have won them at least 4 championships by now, possibly even a couple more.
But he took the easy way out more than once and has very little to actually show for it. The guy is better at losing the big games than winning them. |

I posted this on a related comment, but supposedly he bought the league to acquire some proprietary technology. Something about an app or gambling technology or analytics. I forget now. But the co-founders thought he kind of duped them by pretending to want to run the league, but really he just wanted the tech and then he shut it down.
Supposedly
Also, his total buy in would have been $250, but he only had spent a small fraction of that by the time he shut it down |

It was the player tracking tech I think which was combined with gambling for a poop load of prop bets. |

What’s stopping a team colluding with another to negotiate a contract for a player via an offer sheet? Seems like an easy loophole to use. |

Hmm, didnt hear this but I know the app, it was the AAF's live betting app, and it had a ton of issues and dropping 250 million on an app that they cpuldnt get to work seems a bit nuts... but the potential revenue from gambling is attractive I guess.
That league was still a serious joke. Trust fund baby's last ditch effort to earn daddy Ebersol's respect. |

I made a late edit there. He didn't end up investing the total $250m. He promised that over a number of years, but I think his initial payment was $30-40m and then he promptly shut it down once he got the keys.
There's a few articles that give the exact amount, I'm just lazy |
