Russell = Second goalie on the ice
Smith = Puck mover from the defensive end

I’m seeing the vision now

Smith had a brutal start to the year, but he was much better than the numbers. He was by far the best Flame in the playoffs, and arguably their best player after the all-star break.

Brutal move by Treliving if the rumoured numbers for Smith and Talbot are accurate.

Don’t think that blueline got any better....I guess with Ceci is the money is the same as Zaitsev but only a one year deal....wish we could have gotten Brown
- RatedR80

They don’t have to sign Ceci at all. Trade Nylander for a Dman, resign Marner. Offseason pretty much done for them.

He was their best player in the playoffs....if that Smith shows up then it’s not so bad....I’m worried that earlier season Smith makes an appearance

He was rock solid after the all-star break. The year before, he was their MVP until the all-star break. If he can give the Oilers that kind of goaltending, they probably win the division.

Gaudreau was the choke artist in the playoffs. No heart, no grit. A better version of Eberle, but still not someone you build a team around.

Ive never followed the Coyotes too regularly, how ever has he not been a career slow starter. Starts slow, gets hot though. Real Hot some times.

"No one wanted Lucic so let's buyout Sekera for no reason"

- MaximumBone

Why was Sekera bought out instead of Lucic? I didn't think that money was an issue for Katz. Is there a cap on how much money can be spent on a buyout?

I guess it's a good thing he's being paid less than 7mil then.

Win the division? with what forwards? Is it just going to be 2-1 hockey all season?

He turns 38 in season and isn’t Tim Thomas or Dominick Hasek [/img]

Because the Sekera buyout frees up cap. The Lucic one doesn't save much of anything.

We will be a top 5 pick in next years draft! Start packing Connor’s bags.

Speed and skill is great in the regular season but you need to find that next level in the playoffs and he certainly didn’t bring that

Can you make Holland "disappear"? And Bob Nicholson? And Scott Howson? And Keith Gretzky? And Kevin Lowe? And so on and so on.
