I like Hainsey.
I don't mind Ennis.

The spezza thing bothers me the most.
This team is hemorrhaging good will and fan trust in ownership/management. Like, life support levels......of course Jason has lost a step. Of course he's old and slow. That's not why you bring him back. On a league minimum contract, to mentor, sit in the press box, observe talent, be a sounding board to coach and gm, possibly move into a hockey ops role.

Nope. Let him sign in Toronto instead.
Dandy thinking Pierre from Orleans.
Just dandy.

I’m sure spezza picked leafs over sens....not due to lack of Ottawa trying. Put yourself in spezza’s Shoes, why would he come to Ottawa for 1 year to suck and lose, when he can go to the leafs and compete. Probably not a legit cup contender, but definite playoff team. Between those 2 teams, easy choice for spezza. Plus he’s from there.

That's also what I was thinking. I would've taken him back on that contract but if I were him and my two options were Sens or Leafs, I'd have picked the latter too.

I didn't think we did too badly on the trade, save for maybe that 3rd round pick. If that got put in just so we could sign ppl on July 1st to avoid bonuses, I think that was a bad move. A 3rd round pick is worth $3M IMHO, especially for a team that's rebuilding.

Ottawa is broke. They can't afford to give massive bonuses and 12 million+ per. And why the heck would Marner want to go there?

This is not a smart suggestion.

Marner wouldn’t change this teams fortunes, the Sens have too many holes to fill.

Absolutely not

Marner is great, no doubt, but this team needs a franchise center. There are 2 at the top of next years draft.

1) If Spezza thinks he still has a year or two of hockey in him, why would he not want to play for a team that's trying to retool for a playoff run? You really can't pin Spezza's choice on Dorion, unless you think he should have bid him up.

2) I honestly have no idea how people have drawn the conclusion that Spezza would be a valuable mentor, or has front-office potential. He's been a defensive liability his entire career, has limited leadership ability, and doesn't have a particularly good work ethic. Scoring a bunch of points because of your rare level of natural talent doesn't necessarily make you a good role model for anyone else.

I don't mind some of the moves, Ceci isn't as bad as he was made out to be. I don't like losing Harpur. But I am excited about the additions.

I can not for the life of me figure out why we signed Ennis and not Spezza.

I'm still on team tank this year to try to get the #1 draft next year.... could be a game changer.

My goal for this year is tank but still develop our young guys.

Love PD as a scout but as a GM.... horrible.

Not a July 1 to be excited about from a Sens fan perspective. All place holder signings. I will give Dorion props for the Ceci deal. Ceci is a fine 5/6 D-man but not worth what he is going to get contract wise. People will find another whipping boy.

Season is a write off. To complain that Spezza didn’t sign here or that the dudes sign stink is a lost cause. Goal is to try and make this team competitive in 3-5 years. Hopefully, by then Eugene has a slightly bigger wallet or ownership has moved hands.

Spezza is good for the $ signing. Personally im not of fan of one time disgruntled players coming back ( for whatever reason). That includes Alferdsson. I always see the red wing blip on the stats and thats when it was over.
