true but they will miss those points and Barrie's puck mobility on the back which they haven't replaced. Barrie and Reilly on PP1 will be lethal. TO just got better.
- LordHumungous

I think MTL was the only team that semi regularly used a 2 D PP unit last season.

I'm a bit undecided whether Toronto got better. They are now different. Barrie certainly adds to their top 4 D.

Toronto just doesn't have anyone to plays a full 200 foot game anymore.

Makar for a full season you forgot. As for got better matters not it’s how deep they can go in PO’s that matters.

Maybe Hughes and Myers will provide the puck movement we need and not have to chase free agents next year. Rafferty looks like he has some skill also.

Maybe now we are ready to develop our own home grown talent.

Losing Barrie is going to hurt Colorado more than people think.

Hate to say it but TO made out great here by moving the douche Kadri out and bringing in Barrie.

They'll get past Boston now.

Yes and no. As we saw in the playoffs Makar is a stud. He’ll staunch the loss of Barrie’s points for sure. They also have another D prospect or two coming?

Barrie will make TO a better regular season team, but don’t think he’ll add to their playoff success. We all see how toronto folded much more easily when their only sandpaper in Kadri was gone. They’re definitely not a tougher team to play against because of this.

When we consider we had only Stetcher skating the puck out then we add Hughes/Myers for a full season. That will open up the offence greatly.

As far as cap trouble goes, Canucks still have about 11 mil to play with and they just took on 20 mil in new signings in the last two weeks. If that is cap trouble then please put me in cap trouble every year.

That is why they whine having to play the Bruins. Against any skating team they have a better shot. So in the end they will face a team that runs over them somewhere along the line.

Breaking: Golden Knights looking at trade options for Nikita Gusev

A source told The Athletic the sides are far apart in negotiations, and Vegas could deal the Russian star if they can’t fit him under the cap.

No cap issues at all. JB merely took the next step in the progression. EP changed the rebuild process & more stability was needed. The depth is there now but will it pan out? I believe we will be even tougher to play against & last year we were already that.

Timo getting 4/6m puts a good perspective on what Brock is worth. 4-5/7m?

Where do you get 11 from? Technically that is 11 but with unsigned players

$8,744,296
That's a 24 man roster currently without Boeser, Leivo, Motte, Goldy signed.

Say Brock makes 7 million. That finalizes a 23 man roster once Sautner and Brisebois are sent down for 1.3 million. 13F 8 D that leaves 3 million in cap space.

That's also expecting that Levio, Motte, Goldy sign for less than $1.075 teams get for demoting players.

There is absolutely no cap issues at all. They finally have a real NHL defense and 5 legitimate top 6 forwards. And real goal tending.

Briesbois and Saunter 1.3 makes it 10 . One of Loui or Shaller will be sent down with a savings of a mil making it 11.

My comment was they have about 11 mil in space , not they will end up with 11 mil in space. When it is said and done they will be close to the cap and at the end of the year 10 mil comes off the books.

If Sutter isn't traded or someone else then I could see Gaudette going down because of the numbers game. Which I am fine with him going to play 1st line minutes in the AHL till someone gets injured.

Wish the cap looked better then it does right now but it's only for one season. LTIR will surely provide them with more room as the season goes on.

Smyl sort of hinted on draft day that Gaudette would return to Comets for more development.

We have good depth now. Next up is the infusion of prospects as they mature & push for spots in the upcoming years. OJ should make his debut this season not so sure who else though. 2020 & 2021 look to be better.

Seeing what the Av’s got for Barrie i wonder if Sutter+ was a possible go?
Kerfoot could’ve stayed.

Hope we can get him as a UFA.

Sutter sucks ..he’s always hurt ....sutter + the 10th overall maybe lol

I think we are done shopping for the year after we pay prospects their bonuses and sign the RFAs we will be close to the cap max.

I can’t help but wonder what ferglund is worth and what term. Imagine adding JTM, Ferglund up front and then Benn and Myers on the back...

I would not want to play that team.

JTM - EP - BB
Ferglund - BH - beirchi (this is his year)
Pearson - gaudette - JV
Rousell - beagle - motte

Each line has a guy that sucks to play against and some skill (minus the 4th line)
