If the Canucks demote him, he doesn’t show up, they void the contract... does that mean he can sign with another team? Or does he have to be reinstated?

" One of the dangers is the Canucks have over sold him. Make him a really solid puzzle piece but not always a go to guy."

IMAC on Tyler Myers and his expectations.
--------------------------------------------------

Canuck fans by now should have figured out this and to just not expect as much as JB tells them.

I have said Myers is a good 3rd pairing defender. He's an upgrade over Schenn and Biega. That's how I am viewing it.

They can mutually agree to terminate the contract, every player/team can, its just would you walk away from another $9m (assuming the $4m bonus was paid yesterday) knowing you'll never come close to that amount on any new deal you sign?

I think Loui could sign with another team for a show me contract a couple years in a row.. make 2-3 mill back. So, walking out on 6 mill to not have to play in Utica? Ya, I think if he has the drive he’d want to play in the NHL. Especially since he’s made however much money so far

I'm not sure he could, his reputation has taken a massive hit since coming over IMO. He'd be taking a big gamble that he could revive his value as he ages

Also Corey Perry had a bad year last year, but 49, 53, and 62 points in the years before that and only got $1.5m. Eriksson has be 30> points since joining Vancouver and scored 11, 10 and 11 goals in those years. I'd have a tough time paying him more

EDIT: I just realized you meant in total he could earn $2-3m over his remaining career, not annually. Still would say its hard to give up $6m, thats approx 9-10% of his career earnings

I think the team is being careful about this, no one is talking. JP Barry suggests a move may be the best thing.

Gusev wants 4M per for 2 years

Some team should trade for him and jump on that.

Agreed. Especially with these signing bonuses, he's easier to move when he has $2.5-3m in real money being paid out. It's the kind of deal Melnyk loves

If we get Loui and Sutter off the books we'd be in decent shape. At least one of them.

Ya, all depends on what kind of person he is. If he’s lazy and just wants the money: sure, go to the AHL, live it out for the dollars. If he has a drive and sees the difference between $54 and $60 million as not too much for him: void it, play back in the NHL, try to win a cup.

He still can be useful, put up some points, kill penalties... I guess?

He’s an upgrade on Hutton.
