We will see next year when the Leafs have to ship out other talent to pay Barrie his 8.5 mil

People think it's a big win for Toronto.... only if they go far in the playoffs. They can't afford Barrie next season. Otherwise Sakic nailed this trade hard. Kadri has years left at a bargain and has multi 30 goal seasons.

Kadri is a huge asset for a team like Toronto. When you have Tavares/Matthews/Marner all making big time money then a player of Kadri's caliber at 4.5M is a godsend.

Apparently Dubas promised Nylander that he'd never trade him lol otherwise I think he would've been the one moved. I'd rather use Kadri as a C/W hybrid that can play in all situations, including against top lines at 4.5M over keeping at Nylander at 7M

Maybe they'll trade Nylander so they can sign Barrie next season.

Kadri is a great trade chip.

Almost all of Toronto twitter fans are in the same boat as me that they fleeced Colorado hard.

Their De smokes ours. It aint close. Barrie and Reilly on the same team is sick. Fill the faps with young guys. Im impressed with Dubas today

Barrie and Gardiner are somewhat of a wash. Small improvement but for only one season.

But it’s still a relatively low $ amount for what he brings compared to his peers. Either he doesn’t understand how an offer sheet works, or his agent is retarded (probably fat too). The team’s first offer is obviously not its best...

Front loaded bonuses are huge & 5yrs better than 8. Those are big factors

Nope, he's at the edge and his next step puts him into Free agency - signs the contracts and falls into MoneyVille

He's a UFA the second his contract expires no?

Should be. He'll have 8 years of service.

Not going to happen because he’s in the doghouse, but Goldobin is fully capable of clicking with Pettersson on the top line (skill/IQ/creativity). He could score 15+40 (or better) very easily, gain a ton of value, and then be traded if Green still hates his guts. We just prefer to misuse talent, bury it, and sell low.
