Are TO going all in to get Lafreniere this year?
Trying to move Kadri , not signing Marner signing Ceci. - VANTEL
I really don't think they are signing ceci until they have him play and see how he fits ‘ |

He's an RFA.
I'm sure they're just waiting on Marner to sign Ceci. |

How long it's designed to keep him for depends entirely on his play. - golfingsince
Not really. When he’s making less real money by the end, that makes him more tradable regardless of play. For sure he can play himself out of being tradable. But that doesn’t change how the contract is designed. Man you guys really don’t like goving JB any credit hey?! |

I read that too but I still think they wait on Marner before it's official. |

Ahh my bad, i thought he had one more year. Good contract i guess. Play well or beat it. |

I like that they are not shopping him around . Report to Utica or don't get paid. I would not be at all surprised if he chooses to terminate the contract. - VANTEL
With the $4 million signing bonus Loui receives today, he has now collected $27 million of his $36 million deal. I wonder if they'd try to play hardball like that.
Not sure how this might impact the situation, but Eriksson's agent, J.P. Barry, is also the agent for Tyler Myers.

Thanks Carol!
Any surprises?
I see the Habs signed an offer sheet with Aho. I loved what DW had to say about matching or not. Basically he will take his time to decide, this screwing the Canadiens out of either making a trade or signing another UFA (until they know if Carolina will match or not) |

What does it have to do with giving JB credit. He has a signing bonus of $5M on September 1st year 4, so yes financially after that his contract is more appealing. However, he still has a 10 team no trade list in both years and carries a cap hit of $6 million.
His play will dictate how tradable he is. |

Myers wasnt on my list of desired targets(a small list) but I am satisfied with the deal JB sealed. It's fair. I like the Benn deal. Great depth and upgrade over Hutton. Hate seeing a 1st go in the Miller trade but JB picked up a good player with a fair contract so its not a bad trade at this point.
I feel the Canucks have 3 good hits in their draft as well with the potential for a couple of home runs in Podz and Hogs.
B+ on his additions this off season. |

Cause he actually signed a good contract, unlike the many bad ones of the past. The contract itself does make him more tradable. I don’t really know how to say it more clearly, all the bonuses end after three years thus making the last few years designed to make a trade easier to make. It’s all i was pointing out. Of course how he plays also dictates his value, no one has ever said otherwise. The contract is good. Think of it with any other mid tear point at the position player. Ie if 29 year old edler got that, good contract.

On paper, the Canucks look like a playoff team however Myers has struggled defensively against elite forwards and Edler is at the end of his prime. Benn gives them veteran toughness on a still very soft team. Regardless, the D has improved and it gives Benning more trade leverage if they need to package Juolevi, Gaudette, Madden with a Luongo and Ericksson salary dump. Time to move Tanev, Sutter, Baertschi, Beagle, Schaller Motte & Goldobin. |
