Has anyone brought up Mark Jankowski as a possible target? Maybe we could trade Strome to Calgary plus a sweetener (Georgy or a mid round pick) for him. Similar numbers to Strome, one year younger and is signed through next year at $1.675M vs Strome's $3.1M
- SkjeiStadium

Eh. Seems like a lateral move at best. Same as Howden and or Lias

I’ve been clamoring for a 2C but it doesn’t appear to be in the cards anymore. I like Strome in a contract year, he should be fairly motivated seeing what players get nowadays. I could definitely see him moved at the deadline as a sell high guy. It’ll be tough to extend him, much like Kreider

If Chytil develops into the 2C, this team is truly set up and down the lineup🤞

Just talked to Tom Dundon. Says Canes will match the Aho offer. Announcement should come soon. Says Canes "love the player."

If they were smart they would wait the full week. That way Montreal can't just go offersheet someone else and all the rest of the UFAs will be signed. Little pay back

Keep Kreider, trade Nam/Fast and see if we can trade Shattenkrik at 50% retained.

Buch Strome Kreider

Agreed that it is a lateral move player-wise but that $1.5M in cap space could be huge. We're currently at about $8.8M in space:

Buyout Smith: +$3.4M
Trade Nam for picks: +$4M

Now we have $16.2M

Trouba: 7 year $8M
ADA: 3 year $3.5M
Buch: 2 year $3.5M
Lemieux: 2 year $1.2M

That gets us right at the cap, give or take a few bucks for rounding. Having an extra $1.5 would give them some flexibility to make some roster moves throughout the year and in this scenario they can keep Kreider until the deadline

one thing about keeping Kreider, if we give him a 7 million per year extension, it doesn't start until next year, his 4.6 mil this coming season is very managable

Ya that’s why I don’t get the rush to trade him. I would even say his value at the deadline would probably be better than it is now, teams in the playoff hunt would be willing to pay more. I think we can get him under 7, maybe 6.5.

Whats up dude, sorry I missed you at the PGA.. buddy wanted to go see Tiger finish up on 9 that day so didn't get to 13.
Did get to see John Daily riding his cart onto the tee box like he was right though.

Me too. I had a great time. Met a ton of players. My daughter got to meet and take pics with Justin Rose. Cool guy.
I was near Daly on 13 and fan asked him how his knee was feeling..his response, "it feels like fuuucking shiiit!' lol

Weve been saying how wonderful it is after we sign these free agents. Its been a long line of free agent failures. Redden, Rozival, Gomez, Drury, Richards, Shatty. You can throw in Girardi and Staal, maybe Nash and Gabrick too. Big bucks thrown their way and yet they failed to live up to the contracts. I just hope Panarin isnt another one. Id love to see him work out and win a Cup, but the pessimist in me cant. History isnt on our side.

if you assume Trouba is getting close to 8 mil, then we are capped out

gotta figure out who goes to get Buch, ADA and Lemieux signed

I think they need to clear another 8 mil somehow

Is that assuming Beleskey is buried and factoring in the bottom six forwards?

Scott Burnside in The Athletic have a grade to each team so far this offseason, here is the one for the Rangers:

New York Rangers: A-plus

In: John Davidson (President), Artemi Panarin, Kaapo Kakko, Adam Fox, Jacob Trouba

Out: Jimmy Vesey, Neal Pionk

Guess the rebuild is over. The Rangers, already buoyant with the addition of the dynamic Kaapo Kakko, and adding top-four defensemen Adam Fox and Jacob Trouba, nabbed the highest-profile forward on the free-agent market in Artemi Panarin. Will they ultimately regret the whopper seven-year deal with the $11.6 million annual cap hit? Maybe. But he instantly vaults the Rangers back into contender status, especially with the other additions, including Vitali Kravtsov, the ninth overall pick in 2018. The fact the Rangers stole Panarin from the Islanders just adds to the sweetness for a team that has very quickly gone from retooling to contender status. At least on paper. Now all sophomore coach David Quinn has to do is to make it happen on the ice.

Not sure why. He has performed in the playoffs and who wouldn't want to add what he can bring at the tdl. I think it would be a pretty crazy bidding war

I think it’s the risk part, with potential injury. Which I’m not fond of either tbh haha

Kind of dependent on how his season goes. If you deal him now, you remove the variance (positive or negative).

But it doesn't matter, he'll be resigned. The issue isn't Chris Kreider. It's the the SSS on the back line. That's where they need to create cap space.

With a lineup of:

Panarin - Zib - Buch
Kreider - Jankowski - Kappo
Chytil - Andersson - Kravtsov
Lemieux - Howden - Fast
Nieves

Staal - Trouba
Skjei - Shattenkirk
Hajek - ADA
Fox

Hank
Georgy

We would have $650K in space if we did the moves I outlined in the previous post.

So without the Strome/Jankowski deal it wouldn't work. I'm also not dead set on Jankowski. I looked at all the centers that had 35+ points last year and thought he was interesting because he's in a similar situation as Strome (RFA end of year), makes $1.5M less and puts up similar numbers.
