Kind of dependent on how his season goes. If you deal him now, you remove the variance (positive or negative).
But it doesn't matter, he'll be resigned. The issue isn't Chris Kreider. It's the the SSS on the back line. That's where they need to create cap space. - Bean_Dip
Not sure but is it a benefit to wait for the second buyout? It’s pretty curious why they didn’t buy Smith out yet. Unless they just needed to wait and see if they got Panarin. He’s a pretty obvious buy out now imo |

With a lineup of:
Panarin - Zib - Buch
Kreider - Jankowski - Kappo
Chytil - Andersson - Kravtsov
Lemieux - Howden - Fast
Nieves
Staal - Trouba
Skjei - Shattenkirk
Hajek - ADA
Fox
Hank
Georgy
We would have $650K in space if we did the moves I outlined in the previous post.
So without the Strome/Jankowski deal it wouldn't work. I'm also not dead set on Jankowski. I looked at all the centers that had 35+ points last year and thought he was interesting because he's in a similar situation as Strome (RFA end of year), makes $1.5M less and puts up similar numbers. - SkjeiStadium
No chance Fox is the 7th Dman. He will go to Wolfpac before sitting in the skybox. |

True, but I don't think you are moving Shatty or Staal at this point.
I think the prime candidates are Smith, Stinky and Kreids |

The only saving grace for us is, just like taking advantage of guys up at the ceiling is teams looking to reach the basement and potentially trying to use them. |

Yea I completely agree with that but I don't know who the 7th Dman would be so I just used him. As long as the 7th Dman makes around $925K then the numbers still hold. I didn't put a ton of thought into the lines either, this was more a cap thing. |

of the major acquisitions this offseason, and I include Kakko and Kravstov in that, Panarin is the guy under the most pressure to be great immediately
takes the pressure off these other guys though, including Trouba and Fox if he's here |

I actually think Shatty will be a valuable piece next year. With Trouba he can slide down the depth chart which is what he was doing during his best years in St. Louis. |

This may be a shot across his bow lol, but just looking at Hanks buyout..it saves them 4 and change this year and almost 3 next year
Probably wouldn’t happen, but maybe they say hey Hank if we can’t trade you we may have to do that
I only bring it up because they just signed Panarin and they would in fact save some money |

I think it's too risky to go with Georgiev and Shesty alone on day one. Plus, that's not something you do to your next HOFer. |

realistically he does save them the most money on a buyout. Cost of doing business but I highly doubt they’d do that also |

I think with a rebuilt team, a step up on defense and the offense doing its part... he may have a nice rebound year. Hes also not pressured to play 70 games anymore. |
