Nice free agent signing. The rivalry is heating up again and the next 10 years should be a blast!

point was that EK65 was the NYR' #1 D target this summer, but 11.5 was just too rich...
- 21peter

Oh my bad, I thought you meant the board of members here on HB

They didn’t get a chance to talk tho, so it was Trouba all the way. I hated the idea of him until I saw what the cost ended up being

If there’s one guy I wouldn’t trade it would be Hertl. Especially with the contract he has rn. Considering SJ has to be in win-now mode they can’t sacrifice a prominent player, which obv makes a Kreider trade hard.
- Zupes

I gotcha. Do they have any goalie prospects? I figured they could package Kreider and Georgy for the proverbial blockbuster

Jones would scare the bejesus out of me still

A couple, but their ceiling is probably to compete as a backup and nothing more. I’m still holding out hope that last year was one very very bad fluke year and that he can provide at least average goaltending for the next few.

Unrelated, but sad story for anyone at age 27, including at that same age as I had experienced first hand over two decades ago, with the way too premature death of my only brother, (& in not having any sisters).

Possibly overlooked by most, except for I believe Jan mentioning the names on his prior blog, was that the Rangers also acquired two other low ranked free agents today. One was a left handed shooter in Carolina's, C/LW Greg McKegg at age 27, (6'0" & 194 lbs.) out of Ontario, Canada, playing in 6 NHL seasons, and during last season played in 41 games, plus 14 playoff games, all 55 with the Canes. He could be a depth player that could play a part time role here should he be signed as a UFA, and was one player they were seeking, possibly along with a return of Brian Boyle.

The other was another center, in right handed shooting, Danny O"Regan at age 25 out of Berlin, Germany, who is 5'10" & 180 lbs. He appears likely destined to solely play in Hartford should he sign here.

TOR-COL trade: Leafs get Tyson Barrie, Alex Kerfoot and a 6th rd pick in 2020 from the Avs for Nazem Kadri, Calle Rosen and Toronto’s 3rd round selection in 2020. Colorado also retaining 50% of Barrie’s AAV ($5.5 million) as part of the transaction.

Edge to Toronto and they get cap room to sign Marner long-term

Jones would scare the bejesus out of me still

- Slimtj100

I hope Strome stays ..

Deal Kreider, Nam and re-sign Buch, Lemiuex and Trouba.

If Shatty and/or Smith can be unloaded then it will be an AMAZING off-season

I’m in on that. Kreider is tough, I wouldn’t be opposed to keeping him now, but would love see what they could get for him

Barrie just got a 2C (albeit, a POS)

I like Strome too, but he makes 3 million and we probably have to clear 7-8. We probably have to do 2 of trade Strome, buyout Smith, and trade Stinky
