it's good though, his cap hit for 2019-20 would only be 970K if they bought him out
jumps up to 3.145 mil the following season, but it would really help this coming season - jimbro83
Yeah, though with G's dead cap going down that year, the jump up really doesn't make a difference. |

Simply burying Smith in Hartford also saves significant cap, without the penalty of extending the years of payout. NO buyout for Smith! |

I cant see the problem with the cap , with moves coming in trades ,Aside from giving the players in the loop ( buyout) away which i didnt think was necessary
we'll sweeten deals like Tor. did to get in line with cap
MY concern is # 2 center ? talk on Boyle as F A or Strome stepping up till
either Chytl Howden Lias or whoever takes #1a slot as our other top center
Zbanjad will break down if we throw the weight of # 1 all on him ,hasnt been this relied on ever & IF he gets injured ,we are out of luck with lil experience & tested skill.
Georgiev +Kreider + Lias = R N H
he & Mika would make beautiful music as 1 -2 centers
It cant be that simple but it is ,the other guys can be dealt to get the RFA's signed
to get under the cap, the move thats critical is coming for ....
# 2 center will dictate how reeally good & far we will go this yr.
the end of the rebuild , the phoenix is rising out of the ashes , NOW ..strike & get that other top center ,dont slow down the momentum of all thats been falling into aligntment......like the sun the moon & the stars ... we need 1 more star type to make it all click and make it a real P O type season from start to finish ...L G R

I don't think so...pretty sure they stopped teams from being able to do that. Rangers would save less than a million if they sent him down |

NOPE. Smith doesn't have a NMC, so its legal for us to do it. Thats why Belesky spent last season in Hartford. Wish we could do this with Shatty, but he has contract that prevents this. |

If they bury him, they only save $1 mil in cap room, the remainder stays on the cap |

He's right though, because they changed the rules because of Redden, only the first million is removed off the cap. |

Greatest article Brooks has ever written - TPC
I think they enter this season with kreider. With Nam making 4mm per, it doesn’t make sense to ship out Kreider first who’s only making a few 100k more but provides significantly more value.
Then at the deadline, depending on how the season goes, I think the rangers either keep Kreider if we’re doing well or sell him if we’re out of the playoff run already. |

Richardson basically outlines
Edm . needs a fast 20+ scorer & to find sum cap relief in doing so,
sending Krieds + georgiev + D Propect or Lias A = RNH ....
Gold Knights looking to move Gusev ..2 mill apart ... need big cap help
looking a picks as comp? how many picks do we have or prospects
making the 2 moves above would put us in the thick of the P O fodder
we got the pieces to sell off to get cap compliance
we have the pieces to trade to protect the center slot
and getting a Gusev might depend on how many have to go to get under cap
BUT it s not a bad decision NYR has to make
getting so close to a top team again ...... |

Pretty much this. Zero sense to panic trade him when there are 4-5 way more obvious camp dumps you could do. There's also a pretty big value by having him on the team this year so all the youngsters don't have to play up in the lineup. |

Adam Herman is just the worst - jimbro83
It just seems like those guys like posting hot takes for the sake of it. I think Tom Urtz tries, but I often disagree with him. It's just crazy that I used to read nyrangersblog.com like every day. Like were those guys always that horrible? I just never remember it being that bad before the past 1-2 years. |

Theres really no need to panic and start being irrational with making 100 more trades. We can, make this work from within. The only exception is if we get a legitimate 2C without bending over backwards for it. |
