Richardson basically outlines
Edm . needs a fast 20+ scorer & to find sum cap relief in doing so,

sending Krieds + georgiev + D Propect or Lias A = RNH ....

Gold Knights looking to move Gusev ..2 mill apart ... need big cap help
looking a picks as comp? how many picks do we have or prospects

making the 2 moves above would put us in the thick of the P O fodder

we got the pieces to sell off to get cap compliance
we have the pieces to trade to protect the center slot
and getting a Gusev might depend on how many have to go to get under cap
BUT it s not a bad decision NYR has to make

getting so close to a top team again ......

- NASHTYGUY

Can't afford RNH, even if Kreider traded. He adds to cap....unless Shatty and Smith traded away too

Would be great if we could get him

I like how JD said pieces to a puzzle with Panarin. Excited to see what else is part of that puzzle

Toronto has made some good moves, very nice touch getting Avs to pay half on Barrie

including Horton on LTIR, they have about 16 million in space to sign Marner, Ceci and Kerfoot

they could still get killed if someone signed Marner to a 14 mil offer sheet, but I think they've done good job

My Take:

Trade Kreider & Namestnakov for picks or pennies on the dollar. Its a numbers game now you have to fit under the cap with the wingers coming in Kreider should become a bottom 6 guys in a year anyway (Panarin, Kakko, Chytil, & Kravtsov) so hes not worth the money. Same with Namestnakov, he doesn't give you anything you cant get from the other Cs on the roster (Zib, Strome, Howden /Lias) from a vlaue perspective he is the odd guy out.

Try at the deadline to move Shatty, Smith and or Staal , although unlikely, just hope one has a decent year and team comes knocking. Buyout is an option but if you can do the above, you wont need to and can do it next year.

Keep Strome, he played well last year and with his offensive ability and the guys on the wings, he could have a phenomenal year offensively with such talent as the #2C.

If you lose ADA so be it. Hes not part of the long term solution anyway and the pipeline is deep on D, hes expendable. You squeeze him for a small deal or let someone offer sheet him and get a pick or two and save money

By all accounts, he was our best D by a mile by pretty much any metric. I'm not sure he shouldn't be a part of our long term plans. Miller is probably 3-4 years at the earliest from being established in the league. There's no reason why ADA needs to be just dumped.

ADA has his faults but hes not bad and worth keeping around. Growing pains.

You say Kreider is gonna be a bottom 6 guy in a year? How so? We still dont exactly know what Chytil can do on a year to year basis. You wont find anyone here saying they want Kreider for long term, however I think 5 years is a good amount of time for an extension.

I can’t imagine JD’s puzzle doesn’t include another top 6 center either now or sometime in the future. Not sure we have that guy. Maybe we do. Or maybe we have 2-3 guys more suited for a third line center role.

Im on Barkov watch for 2022-23. If you look at Floridas cap situation based on their contracts. Theyll have 20mil in cap space, and a whole lot of roster signings to make in that time. Sure the cap will go up some, but how much really? 5-6mil. Thats still not alot when Barkov will command 1/3 if not half of it. 🤪🤪

The kind of player he is, hes got an expiration date. We gotta get out of him what we can and not over do it. We will see how badly he wants to be apart of this Rangers squad when it comes to resigning. You cant honestly tell me youd give him 7 or 8 years.

Not Dumped, but if they cant squeeze him in under the cap, the organization wont cry if he goes

Trouba, Skjei, Fox, Hajek, Lingren, Reunanen are your future after Staal, Shatty and Smith are gone.
