Kadri plays with heart. Tavares and Matthews put up good numbers, they are good players but they disappear when the going gets rough.

Should have traded Matthews

Actually it’s sens fans who are stuck with him....but you can trade him for us if you want, we’ve already suffered enough.

Gee, how about you THINK for just one second, just once, before you type.

Let's see,who on the Leafs has disappeared the last 2 series against Boston?
Think about it ... think .... think... even though it hurts, think some more, until maybe you have an epiphany.

Usual salty Sens-fan contribution to the discussion.

Wow. All In for the leafs. Taking a page out of Columbus play book. Smart move. You only have 2 years till Freddie Andersen needs a new contract. After next year muzzin and Barrie will need new contracts. Taveras turns 29 in September. Just win now baby.
But the team still lacks bottom 6 foward depth. And a back up goalie is a must. Because everything riding on Freddie's shoulders. But at least Dubas is trying. And recognition of the problem is great.
But this does mean in 2 years that the leafs will need to retool. But who cares right. Cup or bust!

Kadri is a 30 goal center on one of the best contracts in the league. Dubas should have been able to get better than 1 year of Jake Gardiner 2.0
- sensarmy_11

it's almost like when the oilers traded hall for larson...... no one was ever going to give the oilers a solid defenceman for market value..... everyone knew the oilers needed a defenceman.. and everyone knew the leafs were in the same boat.... i think dubas did a great job at not getting fleeced to make the move for a defenceman and make the hard decision of trading away a solid piece.

Loved Kadri in the playoffs. The only guy in the Leaf line up who made the Bruins pay a price. A soft Leaf team just made themselves a lot softer.

Now that the Bruins have Par Lindholm, Leafs are really (frank)ed

No, but I said last summer the Leafs will come to regret over paying for Tavares. The Islanders improved by subtraction and the Leafs were not as good last year as they were the year before. Dubas continues to move out character and add soft skill. Surprised there are not more people expressing concern.

the leafs have plenty of quality players capable to fill out the bottme 6... with todays signings and trade they have made it so that it isn't necessary to rush in the young defence prospects and when injuries occur there will be players to step in on a short term basis to gain experience.

I don’t think the value in terms of talent is the issue. My issue with the trade is the fact that Barrie is a UFA at the end of the year and will get a MASSIVE raise. Leafs will be back in the same position next year, with arguably a worse roster.

It's just nice seeing Kadri get some praise, now he's not a member of the Leafs.

5 years from now all we'll remember is when Leafs fans ran Kadri out of town

Are you saying our window just got extended by two years?

We were told year was the final year before the window closed.

I'll take it

St. Louis just won a Stanley Cup based on gamers who would not quit when the going got really hard. I think Leafs will regret this trade. I think Colorado just got a lot harder to play against.

You're gonna be in for quite the shock at how the coming season goes.

But that's not gonna be surprising. You're literally never right about anything, so everything is something unexpected in your eyes.

This is true. The window didn't close. Players come and go. And you have to take advantage of players prime years like Andersen, taveras, Reilly, muzzin, etc. I don't think they will be a seamless transition of the defense in 2 years as it takes dmen a few years to adapt to playing in the NHL. But at least there is talent there to replace ceci, muzzin, Barrie.

I think COL taking 50% slightly puts the trade in TOR favor, but this isn’t as one sided as people are making it out to be. Kerfoot isn’t signed as well.

Really I said last year that the Leafs would regress having signed Tavares. He would put up good numbers for himself but overall team play would decline.

I said Tavares would put the Leafs into a world of CAP hurt this summer.

And, what part did I miss.

This is a soft team working at getting softer. Good regular season play. Powder puff in playoffs.
