Are you kidding? What did the Leafs lose? They dumped junk for Barrie. The kids these days. - Ersberg
just what the leafs needed, another jake gardiner. and if you think kadri is 'junk' in 2019 your hockey opinions are absolutely worthless to me.go watch basketball or something. |

Sakic is a shrewd dealer. Kadri will take a lot of heat off of the top line skaters. He plays everyone tough and his numbers reflect playing behind Tavares and Matthews on depth chart. He will be a solid asset for the Avs. I had hoped that the Sens would have got him. But, not likely Dubas wanted Kadri in the East. - spatso
More likely the Sens were on Kadris no trade list |

I think it's very likely Kadri returns to 30 goals and 55+ points. Also gives another skilled centre so that top line can be broken up once in a while. - lonnyBohonos
Kadri is awesome and will do well on the Avs. Both teams did well in this trade. Think because of a premium on d men it was a necessary cost. |

Hey man, you crazy!? Spatso says you won the deal and Leafs lost - so cheer up!! - Cooshie
Yeah, Senators fans don't know what a good trade is. They took Duchene off our hands and sold the farm to do so. |

We dont even know what the roster and cap will be next off season. They might lose other players and keep Barrie if he plans out well.
But with guys like Marner Rielly Tavares and Matthew's all set to retire its gonna be hard to win in the future. Right? - systemtool
Oh sorry !
I must have missed the Marner signing 👓 |

It's okay I'll just mention Nylander then. |

Its basically Kadri for Kerfoot... and 1 year of Barrie's services. Not a bad deal for both teams I guess. - OnTheFly
Keep telling yourself this, if it makes you feel better!

Trading for Phaneuf was like finding a wallet for Sens fans.

Oh ya, I'm happy with the deal. A top flight RD and an instant replacement for 3C for Kadri is a fantastic trade.

TWO years in a row @ the worst possible time this guy gets suspended and the Leafs (his employer) do not get his services! Consider this a firing mixed into a trade...period! |

The Leafs are to hockey what the Knicks are to basketball.
After many years of bad play, awful defeats seasoned with heartbreaking chokes, the Leafs finally developed a nice roster. However, since Dubas replaced Lamarillo they seem to be sliding backwards. I on't think he understands what a team needs if they are going to win it all.
I assume the Leafs starting centres are Tavares, Matthews and Spezza. When you combine that with their softness on defence, you begin to wonder if Dubas has a hockey philosophy or is he just making it up as he bounces from deal to the next. |

St. Louis just won a Stanley Cup based on gamers who would not quit when the going got really hard. I think Leafs will regret this trade. I think Colorado just got a lot harder to play against. - spatso
good thing we just dumped one of the worst contracts in the league for this guy:
On the other hand, Boucher loves Ceci and has rebuilt his game to fit the Ottawa style. People should not forget that Ceci logged big minutes against top players all season. Not well known, Ceci played the playoffs with two broken fingers. |

Leafs will have Marner, Tavares, Matthews, Kapanen, Johnsson, Hyman - not to mention development of Bracco, Mikheyev, Korshkov....oh, and Kerfoot too!!
Could easily trade Nylander if need be to create room to resign Barrie.
Some people let their hatred get in the way of common sense. |

Yes. I said as far back as the playoff series against Boston that the Sens should be in the line up to try and get Kadri. Surprised, not more Leaf fans are worried about giving up so much character. |

Great trade for the Leafs. They get the Avs to pick up half of Barrie's Salary and they also get Kerfoot. Kerfoot's a very underrated player. Big time fleece by Dubas. |

Agree on Kerfoot. The fact spatso didnt mention him when he listed the Leafs centers shows how little he understands the trade. |
