There’s a difference between “asking questions” and what’s been going on here with you guys

It’s pretty ridiculous

Most of the UFAs would’ve been a mistake
And there haven’t been many trades

We did add 2 decent players cheaply
And there’s still plenty of time for more

It’s HUGE that Botts didn’t make any dumb mistakes yesterday by overpaying these mid tier guys

I’m actually being serious
What do u get out of it when u don’t even have hope we can get better?
What’s the point???
Why do it to yourself?

- jdfitz77

That's why I choose to and continue to have a glass half full outlook. It may not seem sane or even reasonable to have this thought process, but if I don't, it'll drive me crazy.

For those that question this, it doesn't mean I "settle" for anything. There's nothing more that I want in MY sports world than to see the Sabres raising the Cup, but I know there's only so much I can control with regard to this, so what else am I going to do?

I love many moves they make, and I cannot stand many moves they make. Somewhere, someday, in all of that, I have faith that a championship will happen.

Oh my god dude, Botts literally kept Girgensons and Larsson, they didn't buy out Sobotka, Okposo is STILL here, we STILL don't have a 2C, they made 23 lateral moves on defense, we signed a bunch of losers to league minimum contracts and at the same time, he let players that he traded for walk for nothing.

Our goaltending is one of the worst tandems in the league. Ullmark is not an NHL caliber goalie. Hutton is a glorified backup.

No President of Hockey Operations.

Not in on any FA's. Traded a 3rd for Vesey when we already traded a 3rd for Vesey and he signed elsewhere, which he will do AGAIN next summer. And he will only get like 19 goals this season.

Need moar???

- BeadyEyedDouche

Why are people mad about this? It would be dumb to buy him out. Send him to the AHL.

Buying him out would give you a cap hit of 1.5 million this year, and 1 million next year.

Sending him to the AHL will give you a cap hit of 2.45 million this year. We are not cap strapped, why spread out the hit over two years?

Same can be said for Bogosian and Scandella, trade them, waive them, or put them in Rochester. It is stupid to buy them out. Thank God, he didnt.

No one forgot anything, he should NOT be within the organization at this point. Period. Cost is not an issue. Holy crap dude, 1 million dollar cap hit next year, no wonder we couldn't land Tavares

If you want to use Risto to acquire a different player, the premise of your argument is inaccurate.

TDL has been a dud for years.
Draft day trades are picks for players. We did that this year.
FA day trades are supplements only to free up cap space to sign the crazy FA signings.

Hockey trades happen in the summer. You want to trade Risto in a hockey trade, it will happen this summer.

Good post.

So we got. BUffataxed .500,000 - 1 million per year.

Skins may have even gotten 9 or 9.5?

1st 40 goal scorer in 12 years. Had to sign him, for the fanbase. Imagine how much extra we would have to pay an ufa to replace him?

And the ufa might not work with John jack.

Skins fits eiche game

All of his 'buys' have been low risk. Moving a 4th for Sheary and Hunwick, a third for Beaulieu, a third for Vesey do not handicap us long term. Heck even the Ennis and Foligno trade saved us Ennis' buyout money and Scandella comes off the books next year. The only boat anchor we have he was saddled with (Okposo) our brilliant July 1st signing a few years ago.

To date the only thing Botts has done wrong won the Blues a Stanley Cup. However if his drafts pan out and he uses our cap space efficiently he will maximize our timeline and give us a chance to bring one to Buffalo someday.
