Everyone (including Botts) wants Okposo gone. But geez, think of what the price would be. It cost the Leafs a 1st rounder to get rid of 1 year of Marleau at $6 million. What would 4-years of Okposo cost @ $6 million?
- SabreWest

Right???!
But OMG... Botts is a failure bc he couldn’t get rid of Okposo

Btw, Okposo scored 14goals in a bottom6 role
Yeah, he’s way overpaid, but his production for his role was kinda ok

Agreed.

The first next year is not being moved.

The thing we have to hope is Risto for a middle 6 forward.

That’s the move. Even then to compete with the top teams you still need work.

If you move Risto you possibly have only 5 players signed beyond this year.

- ImThatGuy

You don’t come close to this by spending in FA though

In 1-2 years Boston will fall off completely without Marchand/Bergeron/Chara playing at high levels.

Tampa will be shedding players and aging as Stamkos/Hedman approach their thirties

You add UFA’s to put you over the top. We aren’t there yet

Gerbe said he was, I said he was elite.

He's not worth more than $10M long term at the absolute most, but will be overpaid.

Miller and Vesey were good depth adds that did not cost a lot. Zuccarello or Nyquist would have been nice but the term was a little iffy there. We are also not a Zuccarello or Nyquist away from the promise land.

We didn't give Phil enough players, enough tools to have success out there."

I always found this to be a funny dichotomy. "i didnt give him the proper players, but he's still fired..."

Boss & i were discussing Kyle Connor
Gerbe & i were discussing Gusev

There’s plenty of players out there that still could be available and would be great adds

Ehlers has been discussed for Risto

Is there no one u think we could posssibly add?

Pretty sure we could talk about something other than just b!tching

We could always just do a Moulson and
hide him in the minors for the next 4 and only call up for depth due to injuries

That was a dumb move. He could have signed Vanek, who has publicly stated he would like to play in buffalo again. Would have cost no pick, and Vanek was only 3 million compared to the 5 million plus he spent on Hunwick and Sheary.
- Mentalorgasm5

Vanek is too damn slow. At least Sheary can skate, and you're not getting much difference in production.

I'm a bit confused. Do we suck eating olives and wings? Or are you eating olives and wings and reading about how we suck?

I agree, but the only way to make it harder for the Leafs to match is to overpay. I’d also rather overpay for the 22 YO all-star with his prime in front of him then throw stupid money at guys on July 1st.

He will likely be in a bottom6 role again this year
He wasn’t actually as bad last year as most make it out
If he was paid half as much he’d be tolerable

I’d like him gone like everyone else
Maybe the expansion draft?
Or compliance buyout if there’s another lockout

My biggest concern is his incredibly slow food speed. It’s not remotely competitive in a now completely stacked east. We can make up for his 16 goals and add speed/grit
