I honestly think this team is far better than people think -

Montour was not here all of last year
Colin Miller is an upgrade
Mittelstadt will improve
Olofsson is quite possibly a stud
Thompson could be better
Ullmark and Hutton should be better
Nylander *could* surprise
I believe Risto will be moved for a good player

I truly think that we’re fine and have better organizational depth than people think

- sbroads24

If these are the players that Botterill is depending his employment on then he deserves to be fired. And I honestly think if Risto could bring back a "good" player he would be gone already.

With John Tavares 97% of the time. Kane did it with a revolving cast of characters including Anisimov and still had 16 more points.

Money Mitch is elite

Pat Kane 3 years in league -230 pts
Money Mitch 3 years in league 224 pts

Don’t play games

I'm a huge fan of blue cheese, but I don't like blue cheese dressing/dip unless I'm using it in my buffalo chicken dip (ranch can go straight to hell). I don't like dipping my wings in anything.

This topic got me to thinking about how a hotel I was staying at in San Francisco, of all places, had "Buffalo" wings on the menu with actual blue cheese crumbles semi-melted on top. As is usually the case outside Buffalo, the sauce was not really Buffalo-style (it was still okay), but the blue cheese crumbles on top was revelatory. I can't believe I never thought of trying it before, and I'm definitely going to do it next time I make wings.

I’d give that a try

I don't think it was ever chunky. That's why it's a dressing

In a vacuum I agree with all of this. Problem is is that other teams look like they’ve improved relatively more than us. I’m hopeful coaching will be a big factor in the improvement of the team as well.
- IceColdBeer

I don’t think Toronto improved at all.

Kadri>Barrie
Kerfoot is meh so far

I don’t think Tampa improved at all

I think Florida is marginally better and signed an all-time bad contract

I think this past year might have been Boston’s best shot left w/Bergeron and Marchand. They had a 100+ game season and we’re beat up. I could see an incredibly slow start for them

I don’t think he’s a 3 on 3 type of player.

He isn’t a north south agile player

He needs to work on getting in shooting spots

I think it’s easy to say that now that Cozens is a Sabre.

If you asked me that in January I’d take the playoffs

- sbroads24

I would take a scoreless playoff sweep over Lafrenière and never look back

And my frustration is that I believe this team is minimum 2-3 years away from doing just that.

Which would mean 2-3 years of crap hockey, after an already 8+ years of crap hockey.

- ImThatGuy

Let's look at it another way.

I believe team chemistry is huge.

A new coach, a couple new assistant coaches, a few new NHL players, a couple promotions from the A perhaps, etc.

This can go a long way.

They have a #1 C (Eichel)
A budding franchise Dman (Dahlin)
(as it stands right now) a few really good top 4 D (Risto, Montour, Miller)
A decent bottom pair D in Jake and Bogo (or if one or more D is traded, Scandella and or Nelson should see a nice reduction in minutes, which can only help)
A #1 LW (Skins)
A #1-2 RW (Sam)
A rookie that has us all salivating (VO)

They have the makings of a really nice 3rd line (Vesey, Mitts, Sheary)

The 4th line has a really great anchor in ERod.

If the team buys into what Ralph is selling (and by ALL accounts, he's a guy that players will go through a brick wall for), and plays the system and for each other, who knows?

They still need a 2C and 2W. Go get Ferland or Johansson and then facilitate a trade for the C.

Meanwhile, Cozens, Samuelsson, Asplund, UPL, Laaksonen, Borgen, Pekar, Ruotsalainen can continue to develop.

(waits for rebuttals 😂)

Mitch clinched it for me when he was blocking shots at the end of one of those Boston playoff games. You don’t see superstar forwards doing that often/ever
