That was all when my family moved south and hockey ceased to exist, (except for the Olympics) for many years. Funny, I remember player trading card-like stickers from Topps, and KC Scouts and Colorado Rockies players were all posed studio pics (Flames, too) as they were brand new teams. So, KC became NJ, where did the Rockies go? Did they merge with KC and become the Devils as Cleveland merged with Minnesota?
- Ratsreign

KC moved to Colorado then became the Devils.

Here's a great reference:

Of course

The first one was fan service. It will be interesting how they play that out in upcoming movies.

The 2nd one got a few laughs, and imo explained why something felt off during the movies to me.

You should ask the Patriots how that worked out for them

Eagles, Packers, Broncos, I can keep going. That's just the NFL.

Shouldnā€™t the obvious start to that list have been the bills?

The time has come to admit that i am now a Sabres bridge jumper, at this stage of the off season. I didn't want to be one, but i am now. I have updated my location to reflect that. I need to be honest with myself. This roster sucks hard.

I am extremely disappointed with the quality and quantity of transactions made up until this point. It simply isn't good enough in my opinion. Even with a skinner-level transaction this summer, this roster isn't good enough.

It's year 3 of Botterill. He should have assembled more talent. We have qualified Elie and Sobotka is still on the roster. Sheary is now a LW/RW because Botterill can see that the roster depth at RW sucks.

Losing Pominville and gaining Lazar was a net loss on July 1. Pominville would be one of the better forwards on this team - which is incredibly depressing on several fronts.

I have found this wonderful resource, for anyone else who thinks this team sucks:

Why are our two clubs linked together by entry to the league so downtrodden... though on the bright side Sabers have some great draft picks even #1 overall picks to work with in finding away out of the basement.

You had a GM that pulled off the biggest draft day ever and couldn't manage to make it work. That sucks.

It would be like the Calgary Flames wearing Atlanta Flames jerseys when playing the new Winnipeg Jets, who will eventually be wearing the old Winnipeg Jets' uniforms, which are currently owned by the Arizona Coyotes... Who thankfully, have never even considered a Jets throwback.

It's not cool. It's a slap in the face to Harford fans. Imagine if the Sabres relocated to Kansas City and got renamed the Armada and 10 years later wore Buffalo Sabres Royal Blue throwbacks.

No big deal, right?

My point is, none of this is as easy as everyone makes it. I am an accomplished business owner who understands the ins and outs of making deals. You apparently do not as everything is cut and dry with you. There are a boat load of moving pieces.

Stop and think about all the possibilities. NOT just the things that did go your way.

Lastly, no way was I being insulting. Just asking people to think. On second thought, if that is being insulting, then I guess I am guilty.

Despite all of the sword swallowing around here I think we're only a 2C away from being "good enough" for now. I think we've got a waive of talent coming in a year or two - I am fine with going with a short-term guy like Granlund for now. I'd prefer to move 55 for a good 2C but if it isn't there it isn't there. I think just getting rid of Phil and upgrading 2c (and hopefully using players in the right spots) will make a world of difference.

So if New Jersey wears the Colorado Rockies jerseys, do avalanche fans get mad?

I think NJ actually has the Barons history as well as the Rockies

- jcragcrumple

Nah man, they both still have a team, that's the whole point.

Iā€™m gonna chime in as a lifelong CT resident. It does sadden me a bit to see the canes rock the Whale sweaters but itā€™s because I miss having the team here. I donā€™t view it as a slap in the face as the Whalers did not get the support they needed while they were here. I understood why they left. They averaged like 12k in attendance and they had a bunch of other revenue issues because they didnā€™t have their own arena. Did someone post the other day that thereā€™s a waiting list for Sabres season tickets? Thatā€™s a loyal fan base. They did a season ticket drive to ā€˜save the whaleā€™ prior to the final season and I still think they only got about 10k. The people who view this as slap in the face are the same that b*tched when they left and most of them are the same people that NEVER attended games.

As is the standard operating procedure for most of my life, I am hopelessly optimistic that this team is taking the right steps.

I'll hold most of my judgement until I know what the roster is going to be on opening night.
