Breakout year? Most just said he’d be better than Oz and Marincin. A cheap 6/7 guy.
- Steven_Seagull

Agreed. I think that most of us felt that Rosen would likely be more trusted than Holl, and could find a spot on the 3rd pairing. We will ALL hope that any player given the reins will surprise us, but I think we knew what we had in Rosen. He's a decent skater, and can generally make a good pass. In his short second audition here last here he did well for the most part, and we forgave his mistakes because he wasn't Marincin or Oz or Zaitsev!

Mikheyev and Shore will be on the team for sure.
Shore will be our main penalty killing C.

- MaximusAurelius

You shore about that?

I think Mikheyev has a good shot, which should help him make the team. I think he has to earn it. He also has size which will endear him to Babcock - especially given the relative size of his competition.

As I said, I know nothing about Shore. He's a guy who pinged around a bit, went to the KHL when he didn't get a contract in the NHL, has a faceoff percentage of 50.3%, so it's better than Hyman's . . .but . . .just on sheer optics, there wasn't anything that made him look like a lock.

on how valuable Marner is - imagine a fantasy draft for whole NHL.
in my list of players I would pick, Marner would definitely be top10, probably top5.
So that's a strong indicator on what his contract should come in at - contracts are representative of player's value (point potential, age, future trade value, etc.).

1/ McDavid
2/ Matthews
3/ Barkov
4/ McKinnon
5/ Marner*
6/ Barzal
7/ Pettersson
8/ Jack Hughes
9/ Scheifele
10/Draisaitl

* --> yes, Marner is the only winger on this list. I would doubt between picking between Barzal, Pettersson and Marner - but definitely one of first 7 picks for me.

- MaximusAurelius

So because you personally rate him that highly, the Leafs should overpay him by literal millions of dollars?

Wow.

well there was a cirlce jerk going on before on how Calle Rosen was going to have a breakout year - but now that Dubas gave him up, nobody mentions him anymore.

(Rosen isn't good by the way)

- MaximusAurelius

Don't make poop up. Seriously. Could he have cracked the lineup, yes. Did we expect him to be Barrie, (frank) no. And if he wasn't hurt last year, he would have been in the lineup when gardiner got hurt. Some of the things you say are good...i agree with you Hyman is a solid player and he plays a prominent role. But 80 per cent of your posts.....man.

Gotta have faksa for Kadri right?

Was he better last year than Heiskanen though?
...

Oh right he was.

- Scabeh

I liked Heiskanen's season more. I thought he was better.

But I do think that Dhalin will be the better of the two in the years to come.

Like, 3 people were saying that he'd play well on the 3rd pairing this coming season.

I know because I was one of them.

Gravel is my front-runner for decent 3rd pairing spot duty.

Wow you sure are delicate. How dare anyone disagree with her majesty. Why do you come here? You don't want to discuss things you just want to have a big circle jerk.
- aminnes

I prefer a smaller more intimate circle jerk myself.

So is Gardner holding out for more money or holding out hoping the leafs can somehow fit him in?

I think Gards would want certainty they don't expose him in the expansion draft.
