when the devils and the flyers picked first and 2nd back in 2017 was there a lot og hype with those players? I didn't even realize the flyers had that pick.

Thing is, those successful third lines usually have a couple of veterans on them.

One way or another, were going to end up with a couple of lines have very inexperienced guys on them.

That’s why I would split Zib and Panarin. If you wanted to get crazy, put Kreider on the 3rd line, talk about a matchup nightmare.

Buch Zib Kravtsov
Panarin Strome Chytil
Kreider Andersson Kakko

They were considered good prospects in a weak draft. They probably would’ve went 6-7+ in this draft. Hischier maybe 4-5.

If I recall, those two were never in the same ballpark as Hughes and Kakko. The hype wasn’t nearly as magnified.

I wonder if theyll mess around and try Kravtsov at C.... with Panarin and Buch on the wings. Have our own Russian triplet.

Please let me know what else you would like me to cover. I am open to ideas. Clearly possible buyouts and contracts for the RFAs will dominate the next few weeks. But beyond that, anything else?

Also, thanks for all the page views on June. I think this blog had its best month ever, aided by the mock draft etc. but wanted to make sure I say thank you to all of you.

Thanks for the blogs Jan. A lot of work goes into these. What do you think the return for Nam will be?

You would think Nam so they have a better idea of how much money they have to play with. Kinda surprised he isn’t gone yet.

Just shows how the draft is BS sometimes. Patrick had back problems leading up to his draft, but Caulfeld drops like a rock because he's too short. I just don't get it sometimes.

Not much. It's an obvious cap dump and I'm not sure he'd have a ton of trade value even if he wasn't. I think if we got a B prospect and/or a 2nd/3rd we should laugh to the bank

Nam and a mid round pick for Lawson Crouse.

I thought I saw they just signed Crouse for 3 years
Send Nam to Ottawa, or oilers if they can afford him. For a 3rd like Vesey, and move on

Minimal at best and that may depend on how much salary is eaten. If they can deal him to a team with a lot of cap room, maybe use the third rounder they got for Zucc as the sweetener to minimize the cap hit.

Actually just poked over the Flyers page...why are you guys so obsessed with comparing yourselves to our team. Don't you have your own issues to deal with?
- TPC

We have issues. Any team that misses does. Listen I like the way you guys are going about your business but my point still stands. A lot of money for those two guys. Neither is a center and trouba isn’t a #1. I’ll give you he’s a 2. Will they live up to it?

Who is getting traded to clear up the cap? Any chance of moving shattenkirk or is it Kreider? Rangers will be extremely young next year.

If they can find the cap space by moving someone else, Nam could be a deadline deal. He is a versatile player that teams could use for playoffs. But the best course of action is to find a taker for him, like yesterday haha

I've said they have to do two of the three: buy out Smith, buy out/trade Strome, trade Nam. They can do other stuff, but these are probably the easiest options.

Shatty probably wouldn't get the return that we'd need. The second half of last season he was quietly solid. IMO it's worth keeping him this year. Kreider could get traded, but I'd want a real return for him and it might be a mistake to force that many young players high in the lineup.

offense looks pretty good with the likes of Panarin, Kakko, and a new import Kravtsov, defense includes Trouba, ADA, and hopefully Fox turns out better than the last College defense we had and they are all young. the summer still has a ways to go, we don't know who is going to be dealt and who is staying, I'd say as of now our immediate future looks pretty good on paper.
