No, they suck and now we can’t get rid of them. They’re problems, bottom line. Nam at 2 million? Ok maybe. 4???? He’s Jesper Fast 2.0. Shattenkirk flat out sucks defensively, maybe he has a rebound year offensively, but if he hasn’t learned to play defense by 30 years old he’s not guna learn now. - nyrangers9479
Oh stop. The sky is not falling, my friend.
Nam is a completely serviceable, middle 6 player. He just happened to spend a season between 2 superstars, so he cashed in above what his paygrade should have been. Happens all the time. It just happened to us this time. Better than keeping Miller and throwing away even more money.
Someone will take him, and even if it's pennies on the dollar, who gives a (frank)??
He no longer factors into our plans and we are on the right side of stocked for the foreseeable future. |

Everyone on D sucked last year with the exception of ADA. Skjei was the worst in his own zone, but he gets his Richard sucked around here because of his rookie year and we drafted him. Skjei has been brutal since his rookie year and I'm not afraid to say it - mdw7413
He looked good with McQuaid though |

No bc of where we are with our depth. If we needed a top 6 winger and the 1st was lottery protected (which it is) yes. He’s scored 56 and 58 points in 2 seasons, had 47 last year playing on mostly the 3rd and 4th line. AV hated him and it appears Cooper as well. He’s a top 6 winger, I think it was a lot closer than some people think.
What’s the going rate then for a 26 year old winger signed to term with his last 3 seasons being 56 58 and 47? - nyrangers9479
As of today? Probably about $7M per. Want to keep going down this road? |

I could careless what we get for Nam, we just need the cap space. Miller’s last 3 seasons, 56 58 and 47 points, the 47 points he played 20 games on the 4th line. He’s a 50+ point player, he became the whipping boy around here. Just to put those numbers in perspective, he finished 2nd in scoring, the year he was traded he would’ve finished 1st on the Rangers with 58 points, and his 47 last year would’ve been 3rd on the team. Yet most on here make him out to be Ryan Hollweg |

2 coaches and teams gave up on him, it couldn’t possibly be the player?

For a tiny bit, but he above everyone I think has been the biggest disappointment.
He better have a good year or I'm done with his ass |

Ya, I do. So at 5.25 he’s a bargain. Thanks for proving my point. |

Not really. Most on here were fans of his. I was one. I just think you overvalue the hell out of him. I look at him like a decent 3rd liner on a good team. |

I don't remember anyone talking about his scoring more than his laziness. And not wanting to go to the dirty areas. To me, that is why he was expendable.
My point was that Stinky is far from worthless in this league and if he is dangled, he will be dealt. If we don't care what the return is, all the better. Just take what you are given and continue on building the next Metro powerhouse. |

How is 56 58 and 47 points a 3rd liner? Those point totals for the 3 years would’ve been 2nd 1st and 3rd on the Rangers. |

No problem. He's a bargain to any team that wants to get swept in the playoffs. Thanks, but not going to miss him no matter what you throw at the wall. |

I watch probably 75 out of 82 games a year. Under AV if he would make 1 mistake or take 1 bad penalty he was benched or tossed on the 4th line. Other guys on the team could make the same mistakes and be out there the next shift. Had to be frustrating for him. |

Because we wern't that good.
Look at his goals. I think we probably both agree he should be a goal scorer. He is not a set up guy, he doesn't drive possession, etc.
Do you think its odd that 2 different coaches put him on lower lines. I highly doubt its because "they just don't like him", player has to take responsibility for that.

Reality is he was 2nd on the team in scoring in 16-17.
1st on the team in 17-18 when he was traded.
His 47 points with TBL playing on the 4th line would’ve been 3rd on the team. |

That's not true. Buch, Kreider, Vesey, Hayes etc all got benched or tossed for making the same mistakes. |

But 50+ points isn’t 3rd line, that’s top 6. |

Under AV? Buch, yes. The other 2 no. Quinn holds everyone responsible equally. AV did not. |

Wasn't Miller playing games last year with Stamkos and Kucherov from time to time? Figured he should have had a lot more goals. |

That's just false. If a player did something dumb they got demoted to the 4th line or benched under AV to. Especially the young guys. I watched a majority of the games. |
