Wasn't Miller playing games last year with Stamkos and Kucherov from time to time? Figured he should have had a lot more goals.
- TPC

I read the Tampa blog about the trade last week, apparently the 1st game he started with them and then never played with them after the very 1st game.

But 50+ points isn’t 3rd line, that’s top 6.

I think Miller is perfectly fine as a complimentary player in the league. I think on lower lines he can destroy teams. I just don't see the game breaking ability to justify putting him on a top line. He's basically scoring at just a tad bit higher than Vesey.

That's just false. If a player did something dumb they got demoted to the 4th line or benched under AV to. Especially the young guys. I watched a majority of the games.

Thinking back, you might be right with Kreider/Vesey also. AV didn’t hold the vets accountable.

Goal scoring they are almost the same player. Vesey is high teens, Miller is right at around 20.

I meant in terms of goals. Miller doesn't score that much more than Vesey, who was a depth player his entire time here.

Zucc was on the third line our final year and had 59 points. On a good team 50 points doesn't automatically make you a top 6 player. In fact, I'd say if we won a cup soon, it's quite probable one of our third liners would hit that mark.

Panarin is 28, since it’s only 8 goals are Panarin and Miller similar?

I don’t disagree, but Miller has been getting those numbers mostly on 3rd lines. Put him in the top 6 for 82 games and he’s 60+ points

Panarin is elite in everyway. Set up, driving possession, zone time.. etc.. You can not seriously compare those two??? You realize there is more to a player than just points, you have to look at how they do in every situation.

Jan, anyway to post the mock draft and the actual draft side by side? See where we drafted players and where they actually went?

Ok, this is enough right here. We have all made more and more inflammatory remarks, but this is going to take it right off the rails!
See Jim's comment above. We have LOTS to celebrate right now. No need to worry about what we are missing in another guy that we would be trying to ship out for the new talent coming in!
Truce??

I don't know if I'm board with that. I don't want to sound like I'm knocking Miller, I just think he;s one of those guys who is best suited as a matchup nightmare down the lineup. He's not someone who is good at creating his own offense and doesn't have the finishing touch. However, down the lineup he's better than the people he plays against. If you played him all 82 there, could he have hit 60 in maybe one season? Sure, I'd agree with you that he was close enough that it's feasible.

I'd argue though that other than 17-18 he's played on mostly good teams his career. Good teams roll their lines well. He was still averaging 16-18 min a night up until last year. That's still a fair amount.

Over/under 50 points. Please take the under. I beg you.
- nyrangers9479

You say it like 50 pts is this crazy good number from a player 50 pts whoopeeeee. What is the big deal with 50 pts? He also causes about 25 goals against every year

Stepan right before he got traded had four straight 50 pt seasons in a row, and he was awful. Your double standards are hysterical

I was being facetious when I said that. You can’t compare Miller to Panarin but saying him and Vesey are the same bc they almost have the same goals is ridiculous.

Stepan was slow, scared of his own shadow and was making more than double Miller, still making 1.25 more. I’m not saying 50 points is a crazy mark, but relative to what we had he was one of the best offensively.
