I like how Dubas is saying (frank) you Marner and going about his business. |

I'm a little surprised Dubas offered Ceci that much. Does he actually think the guy is going to have a decent year in Toronto?
Why wouldn't he have let him go to arbitration? If they decided he was worth less, then great, and if it was higher, Dubas would've been able to walk. |

Ceci already got a 4.3 offer from Ottawa that came with the trade. He was not getting less in arbitration. |

Yeah, I think this is awesome. If he'd been afraid to make any moves, it would've just given the Marner camp the impression that they held all the power.
The fact that Dubas is just calmly going about business while leaving just enough space for a fair deal shows them who is really in charge. When they're willing to stop playing games, he'll be happy to let them ink a deal. Lol. |

Huh. I guess I don't know all the rules. So the arbitrators are supposed to decide on a salary he deserves, but only if it's above the QO? Even though he might really deserve less? I guess that is something the players association won in one of their contract talks as it definitely favors the players lol. |

I'm hoping Dubas sets a deadline. I would suggest July 15. Either Marner signs, or Dubas tells him he'll shop him until he finds a deal he likes and if not, he sits. No one is going to offer sheet him.
I would love to see him traded to Columbus for Jones plus whatever else we can wrangle out of them. Top 4 D of Reilly, Jones, Muzzin, and Barrie would work just fine for me. Leafs don't need Marner, we have enough firepower already, but with a D like that, they would be much better in their own end. |

Last year he had $4.3. I've never seen an arbitrator award a player less than they were making previously. Dreger, for what it's worth, figured Ceci would get $5m in arbitration.
It still leaves half of us wondering why we wouldn't just go to arbitration with Ceci and and walk-away from the award.
Apparently Dubas and company feel they can improve him.
This guy sure doesn't think so: https://theleafsnation.co...be-able-to-fix-cody-ceci/
Honestly, all I have here is a we'll have to see. He is right-handed, he has experience. He is still young. He can reach items on the top shelf at the grocery store. So he ticks off some Babcock boxes, too. |

That works. Just wondering if this D is better with Barrie in, Gardiner out. Ceci in, Zaitsev out. - kaptaan
Just wondering is it better to have a well managed cap team that is good, or a poorly managed cap team that is sh!t?
Just in case you're upset that Leafs have John Tavares instead of Louie Eriksson and Auston Matthews instead of JT Miller or Tyson Barrie instead of Roberto Luongo cheating fine - here's a little something for you.

If a player doesn't have a QO, they can't go to arbitration, they automatically become a free agent. An Arbitrator can't award less if he has a QO.

Remember the days when we spent to the Cap on our poop teams???
Weird to think that the Joey Crabbs of the world pushed us to the Cap Max yet, now with JT, MM, AM, KK, WN, AJ, MoReilly, JMuzz, TBarr, Derms, Freddy, we're still finding room for CC, Kerfoot, Spezza........and more...
So unreal that people are actually trying to find issues with our current situation. |

Not really. That's the most interesting thing to do when you're a fan of a mediocre team and a sh!tty organization. |

I'v never been excited by just making the playoffs. An organization as important as the Leafs that should be a given every year. |

Agree completely, there are a couple of minor adjustments that can be made, but it looks like a pretty solid lineup. The power play should be awesome.

If Ceci decided to go to arbitration, the Leafs could walk away from the decision and be freed of his horrible salary.
Giving him 200K more with no signing bonus was really, really stupid. |

Yeaaaaaaah. Nancy's a female dog and Steve's awesome. - BetterCallSaul
Steve was such a douchebag at the start of season one but his story arc took a huge turn for the better. Now he's one of everyone's favourite characters. Him and Dustin are my favourites for sure. Mike's mom is such a smoke show, I'd give her a go before her daughter Nancy any day of the week |
