2 forward PK guys gone. Should be able to fill those easily, but yes, on d is another question. - aminnes
DJ Smith might be addition by subtraction for the penalty kill. Or they could just suck again. |

So main differences for the Leafs this year over last:
Ceci over Zaitzev, Kerfoot over Kadri, Barrie over Gardiner, Hainsey and Brown gone, Spezza, Petan and Shore in, full year of Muzzin.
Dubas did a good job with salary cap management, is the actual team better? I think with maturity of younger players getting better that's where the improvement of the team is this year. Prob better mobility on defence but worse of defensively.
Do they have enough to get past the Bruins finally... I think with Muzzin all year, avoiding a top 3 D injury they have a shot at 1st in thier division to avoid Boston. Skill is sure there but any thoughts on thier grit and toughness being lacking a bit... - Greenbacks75
I notice the futures line on them winning the Cup has moved from +1000 to +900 since these recent moves, so bookies think they are better anyway. |

The 80s Oilers? - gergeswillems
Yes, but they did have some stay at home guys and some definite grit.
On d they had Fogolin, Huddy, and Lowe. Huddy was a great shut down guy for a majority of his career. |

Oilers would run and gun all season and then start playing defense when the playoffs came. Sather would get Roger Neilson to break down video even. 😂 |

They were funny that way. They would be down 5-2 going into the third after running around for 2 periods, and then Fuhr who looked like crap would all the sudden shut the door and they just wouldn't allow as many chances. But that's a dynasty. Teams that good turn it on when they have to to get it done. |

Leafs were pre season favourites to win the Cup last season too. 😉 Those Blues fans who placed bets in February on their team winning the Cup must've done ok. 😂 |

It's also a different era. I mean, even the Oilers had McSorley and Samenko. Messier was arguably the toughest guy in the league. |

Oilers used to dummy teams 8-2 and 9-1 like it was nothing. Different era but man could that team ever score. Gretzky and Kurri on one line followed with Messier and Anderson. Coffey on defense. Awesome. |

That's why they call it gambling, not investing lol. I wonder what the odds were on the Blues in Feb man. Imagine if you bet on them at the start of the season, what a roller-coaster.
I bet on the Raptors to beat GSW so I'm rolled those winnings into a bet on the Leafs to take it all when they were at 10 to 1. Feeling it, for real this time. This is it. The prophecy shall be fulfilled.

1990 final is may favourite all time. Post Gretz and Fuhr era. Old stand up style Billy Randford. Stood up so much a guy put it through his legs and it hit the crossbar. |

He spent the summer pumping Laine, saying the Leafs would be near the bottom again and the Sens were much more real contenders than anyone expected. Then Matthews won the Calder, the Leafs went from last to the playoffs, and Ottawa did a flaming death spiral into a pool of diarrhea. He almost had me convinced. |

You think the Leafs are paying a guy 4.5 million to put him on the 3rd pairing?
Looks more like they think Ceci can play top-pair minutes like he did in Ottawa.
Dermott is a LHD and he's not ready to play beside Rielly either. - JohnFergusonJr
You think the guy that everyone talks poop about being so much into analytics and charts thinks Ceci is a guy for the top pair? |
