Just remember that we're an Eichel ankle away from his speedness Evan Rodrigues playing 1C.
Cannot be acceptable to roll into the season with this depth. Please no one tell me that it's July 5th - jcragcrumple

Do what the leafs did with Marleau to Okposo........ so trade a couple picks and dump him off to another team. |

Marleau had one year left, Okposo has 4. Also the way Okposo’s deal is structured it is hard to buyout this early as well. Let’s just hope he gets it together and can at least be a decent bottom 6 forward for us. |

Or he decides he doesn’t want to risk his health and he goes on LTIR.... |

This could be a thing too ..... i wonder how close he was retiring after his concussion this year. |

His salary would still count towards our cap though. LTIR only kicks in during the season, the team must be cap compliant before the season starts. |

not gonna lie
when all you do is bring in Miller, and Vesey
bring back the scrubs
and grab a few kids for rochester
all signs point to housley being the goat for last seasons epic collapse
some of these guys are on their 4th or 5th coach as sabres and same crap night in and night out
while I agree housley was a big problem, he was not the only problem
all we hear is change culture and we want to win and blah blah blah
right now all they have to show for the last 12 seasons is a few participation trophies
this tree has needed to be shaken for a long time now and and unless they find lightning in a bottle with the new coach, expect another top 10 lottery pick 11 and a half months from now |

If that happens expect a new GM and he'll want to bring in his own coach and it just continues...
I do expect one big deal to supplement the forwards but we'll see. |

Dahlin and Mittelstadt taking the next steps in their progression will help. We have Montour for a full season now. Olofsson can pot 20 this year if we put him on the half wall on PP1.
I can see McCabe and Smith being packaged together for RW help.
Risto and Nylander packaged together for a 2C. |

What do they need to do to successfully maneuver into Top 5 territory, including the possibility of getting pushed back 3 spots by the Lottery?
That Top 5 next year is projected to be very, very good.

That whole first round is looking very good. Probably the best draft since 2015.
Before people jump down my throat though I won’t be pushing for a tank this year, I feel like another lost season and Eichel will be asking for a trade and then we are franked forsure. |

Pending a significant trade or two, I'm not expecting much improvement. Something like 10-12 more points, so around 85. Alot of that I suspect will be improved team play under Ralph. They are still goal-scoring-challenged as presently constructed, but I can see better defensive/system play helping to win or tie those 1 goal games they lost last year.
'20-21 is the turnaround I hope since they will be flush with Cap space and rid of nearly all the bad contracts. |

Nobody will like reading it, but I believe it's always been about next offseason and 2020-2021 as the start of actually being a good team. |
