considering our best d man is on an entry contract, we have an expensive price tag for the other 5 starters, and they are not very good - homiedclown
Montour, Miller, Pilut and McCabe if around $2M aren't bad....it is the rest that suck badly. |

It's unfortunate that Pilut will start the season on the IR.
Then will likely need a conditioning stint in Rochester.
Will Bogo be afforded the same ability to condition in Rochester without any implications of waivers (maybe it's better if he is subjected to waivers). - thatsapickle
if Bogo consents to ahl conditioning, there is no waivers |

We shed $12m just in D after this season. It will look much better then. |

Buchnevich Might be Interesting he was in the doghouse with the Rangers so if he gets out of their price range I would be down |

Mike, glad you included Thompson and Nylander in your lines. A lot of people leave them out when trying to create lines. Well done. - kritter65
thx...why not put them in, right?

Pach in your second scenario, it appears that Oloffson has been abducted by aliens - he vanished. Whassup?
Our LW is set. No need to go out and get another LW in Dzingel. He must fill at least one of the 2C or 2RW spots. BTW, i would move Rhino to line #2 to help drive and stabilize Mitts if he is 2C. Here's what i think they will do:
Skinner/Jack/NEW
Oloffson/Mitts/Rhino
Vesey/EROD/Thompson or Nylander
Sheary/Larsson/Okposo
We have way too much junk clogging up the 3rd and 4th lines. Something has to give. In the bottom 6, i think you can easily pencil in Vesey, EROD and Sheary.. Fighting over the remaining three positions:
Nylander, Thompson, Lazar, Girgs, Sobotka, Smith, Wilson, Larsson
Based on Botts trading for Thompson, I think they carry him as 3RW and either waive or trade Nylander. I think Okposo is your #4 RW. I personally would like to see Lazar moved in as 4C or 4RW because he is a fraction of the cost of either Larsson or Okposo and he is faster/more tenacious than either. But it is unlikely. Honestly, I don't see any scenario where Sobotka, Wilson or Girgs make the team. - SabreWest oops

The forward group is actually alright with one or two additions, the problem is everyone is slid up a line and out of place:
Middlestadt needs to make only a tiny jump to be a really good #3. From January 1st on, he scored 7 goals in 37 games. That's over a 15 goal pace. If he just barely improves, he could be a 20/20 guy, which is great at #3. Again, he could also really improve and be a 55 point player, but even if he just has a slight uptick from his rookie year, he is a 20 goal scorer. Sheary and Vesey will both get you between 15-20 goals. That is three great third liners.
The fourth line is not super relevant, but Rodrigues is a great fourth line centre at his current production, and Okposo (ignoring his contract) scores a lot more than your typical fourth liner. Those two plus a Nylander or CJ Smith could be another above average line.
And well, Eichel Skinner Sam is a great first line.
So the problem is actually that the team has no second line. because of that, sam gets dropped to the second line, weakening the first line, and the other guys get bumped up to positions they can't play.
Oloffson might be one answer, but that still means you need two other players. With all our cap space and tradeable assets on D, it shouldn't be that hard to come by a couple 40 point players. We don't actually need a great 2nd line. Just barely average would be enough to have a strong forward group. |
