Hey, speaking of dweeb troll losers....
Trivia time: which basement dwelling ritalin snorter fills their sock by hanging out in another team's hockey blog?

Avs. Blue Jackets. Sens. Devils.
- gergeswillems

The scary part about this is that the Avs and Devs will probably ice pretty good teams. BJ's have lost so much talent but still have a few really good pieces to build around. Sens... well, ummm, Chabot hasn't asked for a trade yet so there's that I guess.

I’m sure he enjoyed his time here. He won a championship and from an outsider he seemed like he enjoyed his teammates.

He chose a warm American city close to his family. Does this mean Kawhi didn’t want to be here? Of course not. It means he wants to live in LA.

I don’t know what you are trying to do here...seems like you are trying to spin it off as Toronto is a horrible place to live. Plenty would disagree with you. But Kawhi choosing a different city has no relevance to how good of a city Toronto is. He chose another city. Everyday people move around. It’s life...move on.

This is why Marner leaving on an offer sheet makes so much. And taxes. But mostly this. And better endorsements. And mostly cause the internet was right about kawhi going to the lakers.

This "negotiation" was getting played. Forced Clippers to trade for Paul by acting like he was considering Toronto.

So basically this.

If an offer sheet comes under 10.5 it’s an easy match...they can make it work for this season but I would expect Marner to be traded next offseason.

If it’s over 10.5 you take the four 1st and the cap space and run.

It’s pretty simple...the Leafs can’t afford a high cap hit for him...it’s up to him if he wants to be a Leaf or not. He’s playing a dangerous game.

I think this is the 5th straight year I've heard people say that. And looking at their team, I don't see it.

They just signed Marcus Johanson, and he's not very good.

Vegas must miss that cap space they had 6 months ago. LOL. Talk about 1 extreme to the next.

They’ve signed some good players at least....unlike some teams.

Back in 67 it was epic, even if it was in black and white and I wasn’t born.

I’d offer sheet Tkachuk before Marner if I was a GM.

I believe this is exactly correct... but Marner isn't playing a dangerous game at all. Dubas has pragmatically laid out the cards in front of Marner and his agent and his dad and his mom and probably any other donkey who's involved in the conversation.

They are just waiting to see if there's a team who's willing to walk away from 4 1sts. So far, no one has. Which should tell all of us that the GMs are pussies like Marc Bergevin... and will only offer a lesser amount to get an elite young asset. There really isn't that much mystery here... i) how many teams have 10+M CAP space ii) how many have their 1st round picks iii) and how many who have the 1st round pics believe that they will be good enough in the standings so as not to hand the Leafs 2-3 lottery picks. I believe that's a pretty small group of teams - add just one further critieria to it.. does the team making the offer sheet themselves have an upcoming RFA who's going to be targeted?

Although I'm sure that Dreger has a list of at least 28 teams who are willing to do this .... some time soon

main point... we should just rely on Dreger... he has all the facts. And when he doesn't his imagination is great

If it's true that an offer sheet of 12.5 million was in play, then I think his desire to be a leaf is apparent.

I'd be happy with 10.25 cap hit but that has to be for 8 years.

There’s still a pile of RFA’s not signed, not really sure what the big deal is tbh. Eventually they’ll all be signed or traded or whatever else can happen. July boredom drives us to some crazy heated convo’s.

touche!

what's it like having your championship caliber team 35+ years ago play in another city in a basketball arena?

what's it like to have the ownership of the team tell you they have renovated the death trap that is the Nassau County Mausoleum - which really means all they have done is repaint the lines in the parking lot?

it must be a great place to play 'cause all their elite FreeAgents are so eager to stay

Marner isn’t worth anything close to 11 million.

It’s funny how Leaf fans always get the rep of overrating their players but as soon as the Leafs have a high profile RFA the rest of the leagues fanbases overate him.

He’s one season removed from a 69 point 20 goal season. He played with Tavares, a goal scoring Center and his numbers jumped. Big surprise there.

I’m not saying JT is the reason Marner was a 95 PT player this year...but it definitely was a huge reason.

He is one season removed from 69 points. He ain’t worth 11 million and I feel bad for the team who gives up four 1sts to do it.

I agree.

There’s a number the Leafs can keep him long term at...no other player is overpaid on the Leafs right now.

They aren’t about to overpay someone to keep them on the team.

I don't get the "excitement" either... its a just a waiting game... the longer it goes for these RFAs without offer sheets ... the less money they will get.

I have questioned Dubas tactics prior to this... but I believe he's played this as well as he could, timing has been good.

The only pertinent question is does Marner want to play in Toronto for 10.5... or a little less... or does he want to got to "Team A" for 11M$.

what's the latest date an offer sheet can be made? anyone know?
